Hällsboskolan in Umeå welcomes students with severe language impairment. Our teaching focuses on language and communication. We provide education for students from preschool to grade 10. The goal is for students to have the conditions to achieve knowledge goals, be active participants in various social contexts, and develop as individuals. We offer accommodations for students who cannot commute to school daily.
We have skilled and dedicated staff with high competence. The language development approach permeates our pedagogical work, and there is a student-centered health team.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a middle school teacher with broad subject expertise who wants to combine a 70% teaching position with 30% career and study guidance.
As a teacher with us, you will work alongside knowledgeable and experienced colleagues in daily efforts to adapt to an accessible learning environment. In your teaching, you will collaborate with colleagues to support students' knowledge development and goal achievement. We have small teaching groups to create good conditions for learning, ensuring that each student feels involved and can develop their communicative skills and language alongside others. Various forms of documentation are relevant, such as special support and assessments.
In the role of career and study guidance, you will work in the special school providing guidance individually and/or in groups. This includes information about future studies and the labor market. From a student health perspective, you will participate with a focus on study guidance and also in collaborative efforts to support students' study situations and make appropriate educational choices. At the school, you will be responsible for students' individual study guidance. In collaboration with the school's educators, you will be responsible for providing information about different study programs and other methods to facilitate connections between students and their future careers. Together, guides and educators work broadly on study and career guidance. You will also assist in the transition of students from special school to upper secondary school.
Your work with us requires close collaboration with students' guardians and other external stakeholders who are important for students' health and development.
You will also have support from a special educator, IT educator, counselor, psychologist, school nurse, and speech therapist.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who:
• Has a teaching degree for middle school with broad subject expertise.
• Has experience working in special schools as a teacher and career and study advisor for students with severe language impairment.
• Communicates well in both spoken and written language and has good IT skills.
Meritorious qualifications include:
• Experience working with students with language impairments and other neuropsychiatric disabilities in both teaching and career guidance roles.
• Experience working with students in need of special support.
• Experience using IT and media in interactions with students, both in groups and individually.
• Experience working with Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC).
Personal qualities:
You are flexible in your approach, solution-oriented, and accustomed to collaborating in teams around student groups. Independently and together with others, you contribute to creating a safe and trusting environment based on mutual respect and good relationships. You possess personal maturity, integrity, and initiative. You have strong communication and collaboration skills. You can recognize each student's individual conditions and opportunities.
