Temporary Position as University Lecturer in Nursing Science at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences
We are now seeking a university lecturer in nursing science with a focus on nursing education within the department.
The undergraduate education group at IFV works with theoretical and clinical teaching, pedagogy, development of educational programs, quality assurance, and collaboration with other departments within the framework of the nursing and specialist nursing programs.

Description of the Subject Area
Nursing science is the main subject in both the nursing program and the specialist nursing program. The main area encompasses the consensus concepts of nursing: human, health and well-being, environment, as well as caring relationships and actions, primarily from the perspectives of patients and their relatives. Knowledge in nursing science is applied with a professionally ethical and scientifically reflective approach.
Job Responsibilities
The position includes teaching and research within the subject area as well as administrative duties. Teaching primarily occurs within the nursing programs and includes course responsibility, examination responsibility, supervision, as well as teaching and assessment of practical components.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, candidates must have a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence (3 § 4 kap HF) and must have demonstrated pedagogical skills. According to 5 § Employment Regulations for Uppsala University (AO), the general eligibility requirement for teachers is to possess the personal qualities required to perform the duties of the position well.
The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish (6 § AO). Eligibility for this position requires a Swedish nursing license and experience of clinical work as a nurse. If the applicant does not possess a Swedish nursing license, they must have submitted an application for a Swedish nursing license to the National Board of Health and Welfare by the application deadline for this position. However, the applicant must have obtained a Swedish nursing license by the time of the employment decision.
Assessment Criteria:
In the selection among eligible applicants, equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical skills.
Scientific competence refers to research qualifications. In assessing scientific competence, the primary focus will be on scientific quality. The scope of the research, particularly in terms of depth and breadth, will also be considered. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop research and education at the doctoral level, the ability to obtain funding for research in competition, as well as the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society through research will be taken into account (20 § AO). Pedagogical competence refers to educational qualifications. In assessing pedagogical competence, the primary focus will be on pedagogical quality. The scope, both breadth and depth, will also be considered. Additionally, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to connect teaching to research, will be taken into account. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with stakeholders both within and outside the university is also included in pedagogical competence (22 § AO). See also 8 § RB.
Clinical competence is demonstrated through clinical work and clinical education, as well as participation in clinical development work. Clinical development work includes efforts that have improved or streamlined health and medical care research (24 § AO).
Assessment Criteria, Other Competence
Administrative competence and leadership skills are significant for the position and will be weighted accordingly. The ability to collaborate with the surrounding society as well as to inform about research and development work will also be considered.
When the university is to hire new teachers, candidates will be selected based on a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skills, determining who has the best conditions to carry out and develop the relevant tasks and contribute to a positive development of the operations (4 § AO).
Gender equality aspects will be applied in hiring if, after a qualitative assessment, it is found that two applicants of different genders have comparable or nearly comparable qualifications and if one gender is underrepresented (constituting less than 40% within the relevant position category and at the relevant workplace) (95 § AO).
All qualifications must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.
