The Department of Pedagogy and Special Education (IPS) conducts research, doctoral education, undergraduate education, and collaborative assignments in pedagogy and special education. Central areas of interest at the department include educational and societal relationships, education systems, school development and leadership, adult education, inclusion, learning, language, assessment, and grading issues. A significant part of the department's undergraduate education occurs within various teacher programs, but we also offer independent programs, courses, and commissioned education in the aforementioned subjects. For additional information about the Department of Pedagogy and Special Education: http://www.ips.gu.se Subject Pedagogy Subject Description Pedagogy is a scientific discipline focusing on education, teaching, upbringing, socialization, bildung, and learning in various contexts, both within and outside the formal education system. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship between individuals and society, and how education's changing conditions are shaped by historical, cultural, political, and ethical processes, and through pedagogical professional and knowledge traditions. Central themes include bildung, forms of knowledge, lifelong learning, value foundations, democracy, and human rights. At the Department of Pedagogy and Special Education, the subject is characterized by a clear societal perspective, focusing on relationships between pedagogical practices and the surrounding society, as well as how education systems are created, transformed, and differentiated. In educational leadership programs, the subject is applied to pedagogical questions about leadership, governance, and organization of education in preschools and schools, as well as the professional roles of principals and other educational leaders. Job Responsibilities We are seeking one or more university lecturers in pedagogy with a focus on principal education and educational leadership. The position includes teaching and collaborative assignments. Primary tasks involve teaching, supervision, and examination within the Principal Program and Master's Program in Educational Leadership. Another part of the position is teaching in the Continuing Education for Principals (FFR) course, which is part of principal education and focuses on leadership in various preschool and school settings. Job responsibilities also include teaching and leading instruction in the Principal Education for Tomorrow's Leaders program. Pedagogical development work and participation in external school development projects may also be included. The Principal Program is a mandatory professional education targeting all school forms, and other principal education programs are aimed at practicing teachers and preschool teachers. Teaching takes place at residential facilities and/or digitally. Qualifications Qualifications for teaching positions are regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4 and the University of Gothenburg's employment regulations. Eligible for employment as a university lecturer in pedagogy are those who have: • Advanced level degree or equivalent competence or other professional skills relevant to the subject content and job tasks, • Demonstrated pedagogical skills Employment also requires the ability to teach in Swedish and English. Assessment Criteria Merit evaluation is conducted only among qualified candidates. In assessing candidates' merits, equal emphasis will be placed on pedagogical and scientific skills. When reviewing merits, equal care will be given to examining pedagogical and scientific skills, so applications should give equal weight to documenting pedagogical and scientific merits.
