Project Manager - Names for the Deceased (NÅDD)
The Swedish Genealogy Association manages several registration projects for the benefit of genealogical research in the country. A large number of genealogists are engaged as volunteers in this work through crowdsourcing.
As our current project manager will focus on other registration projects after the year-end, we are seeking a person who can take over project management of Names for the Deceased (NÅDD), as well as correction work.
The Project Manager's task is to recruit and guide volunteers for these projects, continuously instruct and support them in their work, and ultimately approve the results. The Project Manager compiles the work and ensures that timeframes are met. The final result is delivered for publication according to the guidelines applicable to each project.
The work involves frequent contact with several hundred volunteers, as well as with the association's office staff and partners such as the City Archives and National Archives. Good collaborative skills are expected, along with the ability to work very independently.
Extensive competence in all aspects of genealogical research is a significant merit, with a particular requirement for good ability to read older scripts. Substantial computer work experience is a prerequisite, and good knowledge of Excel is an additional advantage. The work for both volunteers and project manager can be performed from any location without problem.
We are now seeking a replacement Project Manager for approximately 37.5% (average 15 hours per week), who can begin a training period in December and then take over independently from January 1st.
See the description of the projects included in the assignment below.
