In a comprehensive assessment of the candidates' qualifications, parental leave, part-time work due to child care, union duties, military service, or similar will be considered as work experience (AO § 94).
When the university is to appoint new teachers, candidates will be selected based on a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skills, determining who has the best conditions to carry out and develop the relevant tasks and contribute to a positive development of the operations (AO § 4).
The aspect of gender equality will be applied in hiring if, after a qualitative assessment, it is found that two candidates of different genders have comparable or nearly comparable qualifications and if one gender is underrepresented (constituting less than 40% within the relevant position category and at the relevant workplace) (AO § 95).
All qualifications must be documented so that both quality and extent can be assessed.
In the assessment of submitted applications, international experts may be consulted. In this case, application documents written in Swedish may need to be sent to a translator engaged by the university.
