The Alcohol Act and the Tobacco and Similar Products Act are protective legislations with a clear aim: to promote public health. As a licensing officer with us, you will work with this perspective in focus. You are an important part of creating safe environments and preventing risks associated with alcohol and tobacco. The work involves both service and control – you provide support and guidance to entrepreneurs while safeguarding legal certainty and public health. Every decision made contributes to a safer society. Your new job As a licensing officer with us, you will primarily work with licensing assessments and supervision according to the Alcohol Act and the Tobacco and Similar Products Act. This includes, among other things: - Qualified case management with legal and economic assessments - Administrative tasks associated with case management, such as processing documents and invoicing - Preparing decision materials for the Functional Support Committee and making certain delegated decisions - Supervising businesses with serving permits as well as the sale of tobacco, low-alcohol beer, e-cigarettes, refillable containers, tobacco-free nicotine products, and over-the-counter medications - Conducting practical inspections at restaurants and sales outlets, some of which take place in the evenings and/or on weekends An important part of the job is to provide clear and easily understandable information about the law's provisions to entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. You offer support and service throughout the application process, focusing on legal certainty and good dialogue. The role also involves close collaboration with other authorities to ensure efficient and coordinated management. Your qualifications For this position, the following is required: - Completed higher education or university degree of at least 180 ECTS credits (120 credits) in economics or law, or another equivalent higher education that the employer assesses as comparable - A valid driver's license (B) It is advantageous if you have: - Experience working with regulatory authority, investigative work, and/or supervisory work - Good knowledge of administrative law, legal certainty, and/or other relevant areas, for example, through courses taken as part of your education or as standalone courses To succeed in this role, we see that you possess a high level of personal maturity and a good ability to collaborate with others. The Licensing Unit is part of the Social Administration's common staff and has an office in central Jönköping with good access to public transport. The unit currently consists of a unit manager and four licensing officers. Good to know The recruitment concerns two full-time positions. One is a permanent position and the other is a fixed-term contract for one year with a chance of extension. Start date will be agreed upon. Working hours are scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00. Some supervisory visits occur in the evenings or on weekends to ensure compliance with legislation in all environments.
