Group Manager for Management Support in Department GFEF

The Swedish Pensions Agency's department for common insurance issues and survivor benefits (GFEF) is now seeking a group manager, who will also serve as the head of the department's management support. Your mission is to support the department head in leading the operations towards set goals, alongside the management support team, while also managing several of your own areas of responsibility. About the job The management support operates on behalf of the department head, participates in the department's management team, and also supports unit managers within the department. The assignment is broad, and you must have a very good understanding of how a government agency is governed, led, and monitored. The department is new and under development, which means that work is ongoing to establish processes and routines. Currently, the management support consists of 11 employees. Supporting the management team are also a business controller and a financial controller. The group manager for management support reports to the department head and is part of the department's management group. The work primarily involves supporting the department head with the presentation and preparation of various materials, decisions, consultations, reports, etc. GFEF also drives several different assignments that are often coordinated, supported, or followed up by management support. Management support also manages the department's functional mailbox and responds to ongoing inquiries and coordination needs. The group manager also coordinates the department head's decision preparations and assists in planning agendas for the department's management meetings. Management support and the group manager also play an important role in supporting the agency's operational planning, monthly reporting, and work on the annual report. As a group manager, you will often represent the department head in various forums, assignments, working groups, and meetings, which is why your personal qualities in establishing and maintaining good contacts both within and outside the agency are important to us and will be given special emphasis in the recruitment process. You should also be able to independently drive various assignments and joint preparations together with employees from other departments. Management support is also responsible for having an overarching perspective on the department's development needs and the management of various IT systems where the Swedish Pensions Agency operates according to agile principles based on the SAFe framework. The assignment also includes planning and coordinating certain department-wide activities, such as department meetings and departmental days. Your profile You have an academic background in a social science subject or equivalent experience deemed relevant by the employer. In addition, you have several years of experience working with cross-agency strategic governance, monitoring, planning, and management. You are confident and navigate securely when it comes to internal governance and control, formalities, governing documents, and regulations. You also have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. You are accustomed to working in teams and cross-functional virtual environments where you lead or collaborate with professional and independent employees. You should have experience in operational and strategic development and change work within government agencies. You possess a well-developed ability to investigate, prepare, and present complex issues at a strategic and cross-agency level. You have good stylistic skills and can quickly translate complex amounts of information into concise and impactful presentations. We consider it advantageous if you have experience with agile working methods and have worked with governance and monitoring of development work at a high-level agency level within the state. It is particularly advantageous if you have: - Previous managerial/leadership experience - Knowledge and experience in strategic planning, governance, and monitoring at the central agency level within the social insurance area. Therefore, it is important that you can collaborate with many different personality types and have the ability to find solutions that drive issues and deliveries forward in a fast-paced environment.
