At the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering, education is conducted in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, and sound production. Research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and focuses on sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
The research group AI-based IoT and Measurement Systems (AIM) at STC develops AI-driven methods that enhance the capabilities of measurement systems to perform indirect and resource-efficient measurements for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and environmental analysis.
The group also researches how AI algorithms can be integrated directly into IoT nodes, focusing on cost-effectiveness, low energy consumption, and robust operation in real-world applications.
**Job Responsibilities**
The position involves independent doctoral research focused on AIoT, with an emphasis on integrating sensor fusion and machine learning on IoT nodes. The research aims to develop intelligent and resource-efficient solutions for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and adaptive control in distributed systems. The work combines theoretical modeling and experimental studies and includes the development, implementation, and verification of AI algorithms close to the sensors. The project is conducted in close collaboration with national and international partners in industry and academia.
**Qualifications**
Basic eligibility is granted to those who have completed a master's degree or have fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits are at the advanced level, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way, domestically or internationally. Specific eligibility requires at least 90 higher education credits in Electronics or equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way, domestically or internationally.

**Employment and Start Date**
The doctoral position corresponds to an employment that equates to four years of full-time studies and is expected to lead to a doctoral degree. Start date is April 1, 2025, or by agreement.
A new doctoral employment is valid for a maximum of one year, and the employment may then be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. Regulations regarding employment as a doctoral student can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100), Chapter 5, Sections 1-7.
