The Institute of Health and Care Sciences conducts education and research focusing on care, health and human living conditions. The successful candidate should be highly committed to sharing knowledge with students and demonstrate a strong dedication to teaching and learning. The position is primarily located within the Section for Learning and Leadership in the Health Professions. Practical teaching at the Clinical Training Centre is included, and when needed, the duties may also involve collaboration with other sections within the department. Subject area Nursing with a specialisation in organisation, leadership and learning Subject area description Nursing is based on a humanistic view of the person and encompasses knowledge about human development, health and well-being in relation to birth, illness, suffering and death. The aim is to promote a meaningful life despite illness or disability, and to enable a dignified death. The focus of nursing is to relieve suffering, promote health, and prevent disease and ill-health at individual, group and societal levels. Nursing is grounded in needs and problems related to health, ill-health and daily life, as well as in people’s resources and ability to manage their life situation. Duties Teaching mainly takes place within subject-specific areas related to the nursing profession and its core competencies: person-centred care, patient safety, informatics, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, leadership and education. The duties include planning and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, keeping up to date with current developments in the subject-specific areas of organisation, learning and leadership, and acting as course coordinator at both levels. As course coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating learning outcomes, learning activities, forms of assessment and grading criteria in relation to course content, objectives and current educational research. The position also includes supervising undergraduate theses. Acting as a contact teacher for clinical placements is an important part of the role. Furthermore, you will contribute to ensuring the quality of education through validated evaluation methods. Some teaching in clinical skills is also included. Administrative tasks related to educational activities constitute a significant part of the position. Other duties may be assigned, and the content of the position may change over time. The position also includes actively contributing to achieving the department’s goals and operational plan, which includes promoting the development of the academic environment within the section’s Complete Academic Environment (KAM). In addition, all staff members are expected to take part in planned joint meetings and activities arranged by the department. The successful applicant is expected to teach in both Swedish and English. Eligibility Eligibility requirements for teaching positions are specified in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg. Completed higher education at least at the Master’s level in nursing, or possesses equivalent competence or other qualifications relevant to the subject area and the duties of the position. Demonstrated teaching proficiency and a nursing degree are required, as well as a Swedish or Nordic nursing licence. Proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish and English is required.
