About the role
Our world is a world of change.
Our organization is based on people and great teamwork. We are a truly global company; we rely on diversity and together we create a workplace that brings the best out of everyone.
Here at Volvo CE, we are driven by the idea that through imagination, hard work and technological innovation we will lead the way towards developing a world that is cleaner, smarter and more connected.
We believe in a sustainable future and with the global construction industry as our arena, we work together with our customers to turn this belief into reality for people everywhere. That is our purpose,
and we live and breathe it, every day. With that, we are “Building Tomorrow”!
Do you want to be a part of building the world we want to live in?
Right now, we are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to lead the architecture and strategic direction for our embedded software flows, including software entering and exiting our machines. This role is pivotal in managing complexity and accelerating our development capabilities within a rapidly evolving technology landscape. Reporting directly to the Head of Architecture, you'll collaborate closely with the Architecture team, Head of Software Solutions, Digital Product Managers (DPMs), and stakeholders within Product Lifecycle Management to define and deliver robust, scalable, and future-proof solutions.
Your key responsibilities would be:
Define and own the architectural vision and strategy for embedded software flows and related toolchains.
Document current and target state architectures, clearly identifying and addressing gaps to facilitate strategic growth.
Establish architectural guidelines, best practices, and ensure alignment with our North Star architecture.
Work hands-on with teams to translate business and product lifecycle needs into effective architectural requirements and solutions.
Lead efforts to simplify complex processes and systems, enabling greater agility and speed in our development activities.
Continuously monitor industry trends to proactively drive improvements and innovations in our software flows.
Who are you?
In this role, we think you will bring:
Extensive experience in software development or architecture, specifically related to embedded software and complex integration flows.
Exceptional communication skills, able to engage effectively across all levels of the organization, from technical teams to senior management.
Proven ability to navigate and simplify complexity in environments with mixed technology stacks.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking capabilities
Deep familiarity with modern architectural practices (e.g., cloud-native development, microservices, event-driven architecture, APIs, DevOps practices).
You might also bring:
Experience in documenting architectures clearly and effectively (ArchiMate, UML, or similar).
What’s in it for you?
A collaborative and dynamic environment where teamwork across organizational boundaries is deeply valued.
High autonomy and opportunities for personal and professional growth within a supportive culture.
The chance to significantly impact the strategic direction and success of our software architecture in a highly innovative and growing area.
If you are motivated by tackling complex architectural challenges and thrive in collaborative, high-autonomy environments, we'd love to hear from you!
