Every child and student in Sundsvall's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals according to their own conditions. Each student should be able to leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.
The Children and Education Administration is seeking a Vocational Teacher for the Vehicle and Transport Program at Västermalm Gymnasium, specializing in passenger vehicles. Sundsvall Gymnasium/Västermalm is an attractive and centrally located school. Here you'll find vocational and college preparatory programs, adapted secondary education, and individual alternatives. Approximately 1,500 students and 240 employees are present. Currently, around 200 students are studying in our four specializations: passenger vehicles, trucks and mobile machinery, vehicle damage technology and painting, and transportation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
You will work as a vocational teacher, instructing the courses undertaken by students in the Vehicle and Transport Program with a passenger vehicle focus. You will belong to the Vehicle and Transport Program, participate in program development, and work according to the school's governing documents.
Your tasks include practical and theoretical instruction in vehicle technical courses for passenger vehicle specialization in grades 2 and 3. You will be part of a teaching team in the Vehicle and Transport Program and serve as a mentor for the students you teach. Mentorship includes monitoring student attendance, knowledge, and conducting development conversations. You will also work closely with the industry through supervision of workplace-based learning (APL). You enjoy working in a team, are interested in student learning, taking responsibility, and driving instruction forward. This position is a temporary contract of at least 6 months, covering for a staff member on parental leave.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking someone with strong professional skills as a passenger vehicle mechanic, preferably with expertise in electric and hybrid technology, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Having a teaching certification in the passenger vehicle specialization is advantageous.
You are meticulous and responsible with great patience, seeing it as a challenge to adapt instruction so that as many students as possible reach their goals. You are a responsible person who puts students at the center and have good communication and collaboration skills. You value differences and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation impact learning. You have a desire to develop, show initiative, and can work independently when needed. As a person, you are flexible, structured, and prefer finding solutions to dwelling on problems. We place great importance on personal suitability.
