Personal assistance is a service under LSS (the Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments). As a personal assistant, you provide individual support and care to persons who have been granted personal assistance because they need help with one or more basic needs. Each client is unique, and your tasks will vary based on the client's needs. You will safeguard the client's self-determination and integrity, and contribute to ensuring a smooth daily routine.
About the Position
Your tasks will involve accompanying a 14-year-old boy at his school together with another assistant. The boy needs help with everything from communication, play, and fun during breaks to training and stretching. The client also needs assistance with meals via PEG tube, transfers to and from wheelchair, personal hygiene, inhalations, mucus suction, etc. The client has no verbal communication, so communication will be through pictures, and you will learn to interpret the boy's sounds and body language. The role of personal assistant requires a high ability to build good relationships. We are seeking someone who enjoys working with others, is engaged, reliable, and responsible. You will take initiative and contribute to smooth workflow.
We are now seeking someone who matches the following:
• Wants to work with a 14-year-old boy (dual assistance)
• Is a meticulous, proactive, and positive person
• Has previous experience working with children with functional variations
• Has good physical condition and is not afraid of challenges
• Has good Swedish language skills
• Is completely non-smoking
• Is not allergic to cats
It is also beneficial if you:
• Have worked with lifting slings and various aids such as standing frames
• Have experience with tube feeding, inhalers, and mucus suction
• Have knowledge about epilepsy
Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
Work Hours, Employment, and Salary:
Current employment form is "For the duration of the assistance assignment". We are seeking an assistant with 75% employment, or two assistants at 37%. If working 75%, you will work 5 days/week, or 2-3 days/week if working 37%. Shifts are on weekdays, 9 AM-3 PM.
You will primarily work with the boy at his school in Älvsjö, with occasional work at his home in the northern suburbs. As there is a cat in the home, it is important that you are not allergic to cats.
Hourly wage according to agreement and other compensation per collective agreement.
Start Date
Immediately or by arrangement.
Employment at Humana
A condition for starting employment with Humana is that you can provide a valid ID and any documents proving the right to work in Sweden. To work as a personal assistant, you must be at least 18 years old.
By law, we as employers must request a criminal record extract from all employees who will work as personal assistants for a child under 18. Therefore, you will need to present an extract from the police criminal record register before potential employment. Further information will be provided if you proceed in the recruitment process.
