About this role

Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming health and medical care with the aim of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we strive for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – within an integrated health and medical care system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always at the center. We provide health and medical care locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care for patients throughout the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength and contribute to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we aim to simplify daily life in the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality. About us The ambulance service, located within area 6, is part of Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Our vision is to be nationally leading in developing modern ambulance services, with patient transport being a key player. We know this can only be achieved by continuing to shape an operation that is open to new ideas and ways to meet future demands and challenges. A key prerequisite is integration with the hospital, as the ambulance service is the first part of the care chain. Good collaboration with our neighbors in healthcare, such as primary care and municipalities, as well as other external contacts in the community, is of utmost importance. About the position We are currently seeking individuals who want to work in patient transport in Gothenburg during the summer of 2026. Working in patient transport means providing non-emergency patient transportation, with or without care needs, within Sahlgrenska University Hospital's catchment area. This may include transport from home to the emergency department, between various care departments, or to and from home. Transport to and from nearby hospitals also occurs. We are part of the transplantation chain, where we assist the transplantation team from Sahlgrenska by providing transport to various hospitals for the donation process. You will work in a team or independently, depending on which vehicle you are assigned to for the day. You need to be resourceful and solution-oriented, as you often have to address situations at work that may not have a manual. You may also perform basic emergency medical care; all our vehicles are equipped with oxygen, first aid kits, and defibrillators. If the healthcare emergency center assesses that a patient transport is of immediate need, the patient transport team can be dispatched to the address for initial intervention while waiting for an ambulance, for example, in cases of cardiac arrest. Everyone undergoes CPR training as part of the introduction. You should contribute to good interactions, quality patient care, and a positive work environment based on an ethical approach. The position includes day, night, and weekend shifts. About you We are looking for individuals who are care assistants or have equivalent experience required for the role. If you are a student in healthcare or medicine, do not hesitate to apply. If you have less experience in healthcare, you will receive internal training at the beginning of your employment. A valid driver's license with at least category B is required. You should have good physical capability. We will verify certificates regarding swimming ability, and you will undergo a fitness test before the interview. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We value responsibility, flexibility, and a good ability to communicate professionally. Welcome with your application!
