**Job Responsibilities**
The responsibilities include teaching, research, and administration. The teaching of German involves grammar and translation, literature, and linguistics at the undergraduate level in Uppsala. Teaching may also include courses offered abroad in Freiburg (Germany) and scheduled evening classes (e.g., introductory courses). Teaching responsibilities encompass course management, course administration, supervision, and examination. The applicant is expected to engage in pedagogical development work, participate in the internal activities of the department, and contribute to faculty-wide activities. Research involves conducting independent research and participating in the research environment. The responsibilities also include actively following and developing the applicant's field of expertise. Regular attendance at the workplace is expected for active participation in the department's work.
**Eligibility Requirements**
To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, the candidate must have a doctoral degree in German or equivalent qualifications, demonstrated pedagogical skills, and the personal qualities necessary to perform the duties well. Personal qualities refer to documented ability to work independently and demonstrated good collaboration skills. A prerequisite for pedagogical skills is completed, relevant higher education pedagogical training, comprising at least ten weeks, or equivalent knowledge.
The primary language of instruction is German. Therefore, excellent proficiency in German and documented ability to teach in German is a requirement for the position.
The applicant must possess the personal qualities required to perform the duties well. Such personal qualities include flexibility, good collaboration skills, and a sense of responsibility.
**Assessment Criteria**
In the selection among eligible candidates, equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical skills.
**Scientific Skills:**
In assessing scientific skills, primary consideration will be given to scientific quality within modern German linguistics or German literature studies. Special emphasis will be placed on publications from the last five years. The scope of research, particularly regarding depth and breadth within German linguistics and/or German literature studies, will also be considered. Experience in initiating research and collaborative projects is advantageous.
**Pedagogical Skills:**
Pedagogical skills refer to educational and teaching qualifications. In assessing pedagogical skills, primary consideration will be given to pedagogical quality. The extent of teaching, both breadth and depth, will also be significant. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to connect research to teaching, will be valued. Significant weight will be placed on teaching experience primarily in language skills training in German and within modern German linguistics. Additionally, special emphasis will be placed on the applicant's potential to contribute to the future development of teaching within the subject area at the department. Pedagogical skills must be well documented to allow for assessment of both scope and quality.
**Other Skills:**
Knowledge of Swedish is highly advantageous. Administrative skills will also be considered important. Administrative skills are demonstrated through the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively and appropriately, as well as the ability to set and adhere to deadlines.
Experience in collaboration with the surrounding community will be valued. Documented good collaboration skills are advantageous.
All qualifications must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.
