Hällsboskolan Umeå is a ten-year state special school under the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools. The school welcomes students with severe language impairments from across the country. The school has a clear focus on language-supportive and language-developing teaching and adapts the school day according to the individual needs of the students. The teaching is based on the regulations for special schools according to the curricula of the basic or adapted primary school. The school's goal is for students to have the conditions to achieve knowledge goals, be active participants in various social contexts, and develop as individuals. We have skilled and dedicated staff with high competence. The language-developing approach permeates our pedagogical work, and there is a student-centered health team. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a student assistant with us, you will work alongside knowledgeable and experienced colleagues in the daily work of creating an accessible learning environment. In the classroom, you will collaborate with colleagues to support students' knowledge development and goal achievement. We have small teaching groups to create good conditions for learning, ensuring that each student feels included and can develop their communicative abilities and language alongside others. The work requires close collaboration with the students' guardians as well as other external actors who are important for the students' health and development. You will also have support from a special educator, IT educator, counselor, psychologist, school nurse, and speech therapist. QUALIFICATIONS Work Experience Experience working with students with severe language impairments. Experience working with children in need of special support. Experience working with children with neuropsychiatric disabilities. Experience using IT and media in the educational setting. Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Other Skills You can: Analyze, document, assess, and evaluate students' development to provide the best possible conditions for learning and goal achievement. Choose alternative, adapted, and complementary pedagogical strategies based on children's needs and conditions at both group and individual levels. You are flexible in your working methods, solution-oriented, and experienced in collaboration within teams around student groups. You are creative and open to trying new things to find students' motivation and joy in schoolwork and during leisure time. Your approach to students is characterized by a low-arousal response. You contribute, both individually and with others, to creating a safe and trusting environment based on mutual respect and good relationships. You have the ability to meet students at their developmental level. Personal Qualities You possess personal maturity, integrity, and initiative. You have good communication and collaboration skills. Experience is required. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Language Skills/Communication Methods You express yourself well in both spoken and written language. IT Skills Good IT skills.
