We are seeking both qualified and unqualified teachers, as well as trained and untrained teaching assistants to work as substitutes in our schools. This is an opportunity for you to gain experience and references that will be valuable regardless of your future career path. As a substitute, you are hired hourly and can set your own availability for work. School needs dictate the schedule, with work times between 05:30-18:00, Monday to Friday. School needs can arise on short notice, so flexibility is beneficial.
Substitute Position in Schools for Spring Semester 2026
Job Responsibilities
In primary schools, you'll work with students from preschool to 9th grade. As a teacher, you'll independently conduct class instruction and support students. You can choose to work with grades F-3, 4-6, 7-9, or all. In after-school programs, you'll provide meaningful activities before and after school, supporting classrooms during lesson time. As a teaching assistant, you'll support one or more students needing extra assistance in the classroom, during breaks, or in after-school programs.
In adapted schools, you'll support students needing pedagogical and physical learning support. You can choose to work with grades 1-9, high school, or both. Students should have opportunities to develop knowledge and skills to encourage personal growth. You'll work in classes of up to ten students, always as part of a team, with other educators and assistants. You may also work in after-school programs or short-term supervision.
Qualifications
We seek someone who can provide students with a safe, creative, educational, and positive school experience. You should be:
- Engaged with a professional approach toward students, parents, and colleagues
- Adaptable to varying work environments and tasks
- Capable of independent work and taking initiative
- Interested in providing care and instruction to encourage student development
Preferred qualifications include:
- Complete high school diploma
- Relevant education or experience working with children and youth
- Knowledge of working with neurodivergent or intellectually disabled students
- Excellent Swedish language skills (verbal, written, and comprehension)
- Driver's license is a plus
