About this role
Are you seeing great opportunities for sustainable development of our food system? Do you want to help Food Sweden maintain and strengthen its competitiveness? Do you enjoy working in teams with companies, researchers, authorities, and other organizations to contribute to this development? Then you might be the right person for us!
In the Food Systems business area, we are currently 34 people distributed across two units, mapping the environmental impact of the food chain to identify improvement opportunities in both production and consumption, and we apply a system perspective in everything we do. New sustainability reporting requirements mean we see the need to provide the right advice and support to companies and organizations, where this temporary position is an important part of our offering.
About the Role We are now seeking a business-oriented and customer-focused project manager with strong commitment to environmental issues who wants to work with companies and organizations in the food chain and their sustainability efforts. We work in project form for various customers, as well as in development and competence-enhancing projects funded by research financiers, regions, and authorities. We are a knowledge organization with an important mission to translate knowledge and research results into application and are therefore not a typical consulting business, but often work with applying new knowledge, new requirements, and new methods. We work together to adapt our offering to industry needs, develop the area, and focus on the operation as a whole, rather than just the projects we are responsible for.
As a project manager and expert in sustainable operations, you will:
• Lead and conduct customer projects focusing on climate calculations according to the GHG Protocol
• Coach customers and organizations in their sustainability work
• Manage customer dialogues and contacts
• Develop our offerings together with group colleagues
• Develop our working methods together with group colleagues
• Participate in projects, including research projects, based on your expertise where someone else is the project manager
• Represent RISE's operations in the area in various contexts, internally and externally
The position is a temporary assignment of approximately 12 months starting in Jan/Feb 2026. Location is at the Sustainable Operations unit, Food Division, in Gothenburg or Lund. We currently work with a hybrid work approach where most employees choose to divide their working time between the office and home workplace.
There may be opportunities for extension after the temporary assignment ends.
Who are you? As a person, we believe you are unpretentious, social, and enjoy interacting with others. You communicate easily and are happy to share your knowledge - both to spread understanding of the area and to identify new business opportunities and collaborations. You are curious and interested in sustainability issues broadly and like to see connections to other areas such as biodiversity and ecosystem impact. You are driven and take initiative but also enjoy working in teams. You have strong analytical skills, are meticulous, and when you take responsibility for something, you deliver.
We are seeking someone who:
• Has extensive knowledge of the GHG Protocol and experience working with organizational-level climate calculations, including application in various reporting contexts (e.g., for validation according to SBTi, CSRD/ESRS, or VSME)
• Has experience with product-level climate calculations according to relevant standards (e.g., ISO 14067, ISO 14040/44, GHG Protocol Product Standard)
• Has good understanding of the rapidly changing landscape of climate and sustainability reporting, and how different regulations and frameworks interconnect
• Has good project management experience
• Is consultative and customer-oriented with the ability to listen, understand needs, and adapt accordingly
• Has post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as environmental science, engineering, or agronomy
• Can express yourself fluently in both Swedish and English verbally and in writing, as the group language is Swedish while many customers and partners are international
It is meritorious if you:
• Have experience with the SBTi process, for example by supporting customers through target formulation and validation process (highly meritorious)
• Have knowledge of land-related emissions (e.g., land use change, carbon sinks) and related frameworks such as SBTi FLAG and GHG Protocol's LSRG
• Have knowledge of food and agricultural production's environmental impact and challenges
• Have skills in facilitation and process management
• Have in-depth knowledge of reporting requirements according to CSRD and ESRS
• Have experience quantifying environmental effects with LCA (preferably with SimaPro or other LCA programs)
• Have good Excel skills and experience with other calculation and data management programs (e.g., VBA, MATLAB, R, or Python)
Are we right for each other? At RISE, we are convinced that diversity
