About this role

Stockholm – our capital with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the residents of Stockholm. We are making significant investments in preventive social work in Järva – do you want to be part of our team? Welcome to us Järva is an exciting and dynamic area to work in. We are currently taking important steps forward in our preventive work within First Line Social Services and in implementing the new Social Services Act. We want to offer residents coordinated and early support by co-locating our field assistants and parent advisers, as well as strengthening our ability to monitor and act based on the local situation. The Department for Promotion and Preventive Social Interventions consists of three organizational areas: First Line Social Services, Work and Studies, and Leisure. The First Line Social Services area brings together the preventive resources of social services, such as field assistants, parent advisers, parenting guides, school social workers, and counselors at the Järva youth center. We are now seeking a parent adviser who wants to contribute to our ongoing development journey! What we offer With us, you will have an important and stimulating role where you make a real difference for children and families. We apply flexible working hours, and as an employee, you will receive an annual wellness allowance that can be used for activities related to fitness, movement, and other wellness options. Additionally, as a city employee, you will have access to a range of benefits and discounts that you can take advantage of if you wish. Read more about our benefits here. Your role As a parent adviser, you will provide advice and support on parenting issues to prospective parents and parents with children aged 0–18 years. This is an open service where parents can approach us directly, and we actively work to create a cohesive support system tailored and varied according to parents' needs and wishes. Currently, we meet most parents through our group activities at the universal prevention level, such as the parenting support programs ABC, FÖS, Komet, and the expanded home visiting program in Rinkeby, in collaboration with child health care. In addition to this, we offer advisory and support conversations, various types of parenting groups, theme meetings, and parent gatherings where children are also present. An important part of our development work is to strengthen our efforts at the selective level. For example, when a report of concern has been received but a decision has been made not to initiate an investigation, we follow up with the family through parenting advice and offer support. The job also involves extensive collaboration with other authorities, the region’s healthcare and health services, schools, preschools, and civil society. This occurs both through structured collaborative forms and in a trust-building work approach. Creativity, knowledge, and flexibility are essential in this role. Your qualifications and experience We are looking for someone who has: - A degree in social work or another equivalent academic qualification deemed comparable by the employer. - Experience in various forms of parenting support, preferably both universal and selective prevention. - Several years of professional experience in social work with parents and children. It is considered an asset if you have: - Training and experience in leading parenting support programs such as FÖS, ABC, Komet. - Experience in change work within families. - Experience in collaboration with schools/preschools, the region, and civil society. - Good knowledge of the responsibilities of social services and other authorities, as the role of the parent adviser includes referring parents to further or different types of support when needed. The nature of the work makes personal suitability a significant factor, particularly good collaboration skills and a clear initiative. To thrive in this role, you should be proactive and able to take significant personal responsibility while also maintaining a flexible approach and easily adapting to changing circumstances. You enjoy working on tasks that are in development, but you also possess the ability to stay focused on the main assignments. A strong ability to create and nurture relationships is important, as well as a commitment to collaborating and clearly and engagingly communicating about the services provided. We place great emphasis on personal abilities and skills. Interviews may be conducted during the advertising period. Welcome with your application!
