We are seeking a temporary university lecturer for teaching in the Master's program in Digital Humanities and to actively contribute to the institution's research environment.
The position is part-time at 60% during the spring semester of 2026.
At the Department of Archival, Library and Museum Studies (ABM), advanced level education is offered within the master's program in ABM (Archival Science, Library and Information Science, and Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies) as well as within the Master's program in Digital Humanities. Additionally, doctoral education is conducted in Library and Information Science. The department consists of around twenty teachers and researchers, as well as eight doctoral candidates. The Center for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Uppsala (CDHU) is affiliated with the department. CDHU is a center that supports researchers at Uppsala University in data management, data storage, digital methods, and digital tools. CDHU employs research engineers, as well as a director, deputy director, and research coordinator.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include teaching, research, and administration. Teaching includes course responsibility, course administration, and assessment primarily within the Master's program in Digital Humanities. There may also be teaching responsibilities in the Master's program in ABM.
The teaching tasks focus mainly on supervising Master’s thesis projects, leading seminars, and assessing Master’s thesis projects. The teaching also involves applying wide-ranging and disciplinary diverse perspectives within digital humanities in a theoretically, practically, and technically grounded manner, with particular emphasis on the intersection of digital humanities, library and information science, and archival science.
Teaching will primarily be conducted in English, although instruction in Swedish may occur.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the position of temporary university lecturer, candidates must have obtained a doctoral degree in a relevant subject area for the duties, such as digital humanities, library and information science, or archival science. It is required that the pedagogical skills, scientific expertise, and professional qualifications are relevant to the subject content and the responsibilities included in the position.
Eligibility requires the ability to teach in English. In addition, as a general eligibility requirement for teachers, candidates must possess the personal qualities necessary to perform the duties effectively, including flexibility, accountability, good teamwork abilities, and the capacity to work independently.
