About this role
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Do you want to make a real difference from the very first meeting with individuals seeking financial assistance? We are currently looking for a temporary social worker as one of our colleagues is going on parental leave.
The temporary position extends until March 31, 2027. As a social worker in our reception unit within financial assistance, you will work closely with both clients and colleagues in an environment characterized by collaboration, trust, and commitment. Here, you will find an accessible manager, strong collegial support, and the opportunity to help develop the future of social services.
Welcome to our area of work and support
Our office is located at Slakthusplan near Globen subway station. Our reception unit consists of nine social workers and an engaged unit manager who practices accessible and trust-based leadership. We maintain an open and supportive atmosphere at the reception. We have collegial support and space to share experiences and reflect together daily.
The unit is part of the area of work and support, where collaboration is an integral part of the work. The unit works closely with the domestic violence team, the substance abuse unit, and the child and youth units. This allows you to gain a comprehensive understanding of clients' situations and contribute to sustainable solutions. There are several collaboration groups where you, as a social worker, participate and drive development issues in various areas. Currently, we are also involved in a pilot project related to the new Social Services Act (SoL), which gives you the opportunity to influence future working methods.

As a social worker in the reception unit, you are often the first point of contact for clients seeking support from social services. You meet them during an important transition where security, clarity, and structure are crucial. You will receive and assess applications for financial assistance, conduct initial visits, and follow up on cases. Part of the work also involves guiding and motivating clients towards self-sufficiency and collaborating with other actors to find the right support measures.
Examples of tasks:
- Provide advice and guidance to residents contacting the unit, primarily via phone.
- Conduct initial visits in the administration's visiting rooms with new clients applying for financial assistance.
- Investigate and process applications for financial assistance and make decisions in accordance with applicable legislation.
- Collaborate with other actors such as the substance abuse unit, child and youth unit, and the region/healthcare to provide residents with coordinated support.
Your qualifications and experience
