The Cultural Administration works for a free, rich, and strong cultural life throughout Västra Götaland. Together with municipalities, civil society, and other stakeholders, we promote, support, and develop the region's cultural life. We also provide support to the region's cultural policy bodies: the Cultural Committee and the Board for Cultural Development.

The Preparation Unit consists of employees with expertise in various areas of the cultural field who support the Cultural Committee in its strategic responsibility for cultural issues in the Västra Götaland region. We prepare qualified materials for political decisions in the Cultural Committee and collaborate with institutions, associations, and municipalities.
The Cultural Committee decides on assignments to various actors and several different forms of support and scholarships. The work of the Cultural Committee is based on the annual budget of the regional council and Västra Götaland's cultural strategy and cultural plan for 2024–2027.

We are now seeking a regional developer in the cultural field for the Cultural Director's Preparation Unit.
The position is a temporary role for approximately 9 months, starting in January 2026.
Job Description
As a regional developer in the Cultural Administration's Preparation Unit, you will report directly to the Cultural Director. You will work independently and as part of a team on preparation, processing of support, as well as follow-up and evaluation of the Cultural Committee's initiatives.
The work involves dialogue with both institutional and independent cultural sectors, as well as civil society at the municipal, regional, national, and international levels. You will follow up on initiatives, draft responses and analyses, and serve as the Cultural Committee's support and contact for dialogue with institutions and associations. The role is both administrative and developmental.
Your responsibilities will include processing and following up on the Cultural Committee's assignments to cultural institutions and available financial support and scholarships. You will work on development within the cultural field together with institutions, administrations, the independent professional cultural sector, and the non-profit cultural sector. You will contribute to supporting the Cultural Committee in implementing Västra Götaland's cultural strategy for 2024–2027.

Requirements
- At least post-secondary education in cultural or social sciences, project management, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Knowledge of processing financial support.
- Experience in writing qualified materials for various purposes.
- Current knowledge of the cultural sector as a whole.
- Fluent Swedish, both spoken and written.
Meritorious
- Current knowledge of the specific cultural sector.
- Experience working in the cultural field.
- Experience working in a politically governed organization and/or public administration.
Personal Qualities
- Ability to take initiative, be communicative, and comfortable speaking in front of groups.
- Ability to work well both in team settings and independently.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing.
- Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a periodically high-paced work environment, as well as being self-driven and structured in your work approach.
