About this role

Ref: 20252541 Are you passionate about working with children and youth? Do you want to engage young people on their own terms and build long-term relationships that make a difference? The leisure center activity is more than just a place for activities – it is a space where young people receive support, are seen, and are heard. Lindängen Leisure Center is a vibrant and well-visited meeting place for children and youth, offering ample opportunities for creativity, initiative, and program development. The venue attracts many visitors of different ages and provides a dynamic environment. The strength of the leisure center is its strong local engagement, characterized by people and organizations that want to contribute positively. As a leisure leader, you will become part of a large team of 10 colleagues who rotate between Lindängen and Tygelsjö. Nydala Leisure Center is a safe and inspiring meeting place focused on movement, health, and community. The facility, which consists of two floors, offers opportunities for various activities. Here, sports are a natural part of everyday life – basketball and other team activities attract many young people and contribute to both energy and team spirit. The physical activities are complemented by inclusive activities that enhance the youths' self-confidence. The team at Nydala consists of 7 leisure leaders who collaboratively develop a program with a focus on the future. Job Responsibilities As a leisure leader, you create safe, inclusive, and inspiring leisure programs where children and young people can develop, feel a sense of community, and influence their leisure time. With a coaching approach, you support and inspire young people to be creative, take initiative, and grow, while also serving as a professional role model and a solid boundary setter. You meet the needs of young people – both those they express themselves and those you identify as a leisure leader – and adapt the program to facilitate both planned and spontaneous activities, with a focus on youth participation and influence. The work occurs in close collaboration with schools, guardians, police, social services, and other local stakeholders. You will also cooperate with other leisure centers and meeting places regarding events and school holidays, where you create safe and positive environments for children and youth together. Your main base will be at the leisure center, with programs extending into the local area to meet and build relationships with young people where they are. You will engage in all relevant tasks at the workplace, including planning, implementation, and follow-up. Some ongoing administration and documentation will also be required. With us, you have significant autonomy and the mandate to develop a growing program with a sense of hope for the future – a place where all young people should feel welcome and part of a community. As a leisure leader, you will work with children and youth during their leisure time, which means your schedule will include regular daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. Qualifications We are looking for someone who: • Has a leisure leader degree from a folk high school or another relevant post-secondary education combined with experience working with our target group (youth aged 12-18 years) Other relevant post-secondary education may include fields such as pedagogy, social work, or social sciences, such as leisure pedagogue, social worker, social pedagogue, teacher, criminology, sociology, gender studies, sports science, international relations, or human rights. • Has good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Meriting: • Experience with community-based work • Documented knowledge of norm criticism, gender equality, and youth participation • Experience in low-arousal work • Has been engaged in voluntary activities or organizations. Personal Competencies: As a person, you are social, secure, stable, and responsible, with a good ability to collaborate and build relationships. You are flexible and adapt easily to changes while maintaining focus and calmness even in challenging situations. You are creative and innovative, able to see opportunities and contribute ideas that develop the program. You possess a high degree of personal maturity, are attentive, and show respect in interactions with both youth and colleagues. With your relationship-building and solution-oriented abilities, you contribute to a positive and secure environment. You work independently with a holistic view and understanding of the program's goals, while enjoying working as part of a team. Do you recognize yourself? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
