About this role

Area of Operations: Surgery and Urology We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve two million people in central Sweden. There is always something happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is undergoing surgery, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both significant challenges and wonderful events, all within a strong community of colleagues. Take a glimpse into our reality through our photo exhibition at akademiskafotoutstallning.se. We welcome your application! Our Operations We are a surgical unit, specializing in Urology, providing both planned and emergency care. We treat and operate on patients with urinary tract diseases. Our services include major abdominal surgery on the bladder and kidneys, robotic-assisted surgery, along with smaller urological procedures. In our emergency work, we handle major kidney trauma, injuries to the penis and testicles, sepsis, and acute bleeding from the urinary tract. The Urology Department is a small and family-like unit with a strong focus on education and competence. Your Mission With us, you will work in care teams, allowing you as a nurse to focus on the nursing profession. Each care team consists of one to two nursing assistants. We collaborate with physiotherapists, pharmacists, and physicians in the department. Your responsibilities will include standard postoperative care and pain management, interspersed with leading and responding in acute situations. You will also have the opportunity to educate patients in self-care and plan their care in collaboration with other entities. We also maintain a close partnership with our outpatient clinic, and there is potential for you to later take part in patient admissions for elective care. There are great opportunities for further development and long-term satisfaction in this role. Your Qualifications We are looking for someone who: • Is a licensed nurse • Has a genuine interest in surgical care • Enjoys and thrives in a culture of education • Is pedagogical, responsible, and innovative We Offer The Urology Department is an inpatient unit where you are offered a 100% position, covering days and evenings, with the option to work nights. Here, we care for 15 patients around the clock. We have a rolling yet flexible schedule that takes your preferences into account when planning shifts. We provide: • An individually tailored introduction period of 4-5 weeks depending on prior experience. • A mentorship program during your first year with us, for a smooth start in Urology. • Regular training sessions on concepts such as SMART, TUB, CPR, mini-lectures, and reflection. Equal treatment in our workplace means not "the same for everyone," but making a difference by recognizing individuals' unique circumstances such as gender, gender identity or expression, ethnicity, religion or other belief systems, disability, sexual orientation, and age. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference. Read about the benefits available here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/). Want to Know More?
