About this role

Örebro County has a long history of being a meeting place for people from north and south, east and west. Here, forest and plains, industrial mining regions and agricultural lands intersect. Örebro County Museum is in an exciting phase. The museum building is soon to be renovated, and work is underway to fill it with engaging and diverse content. We are simultaneously active throughout the county. The Örebro County Museum Foundation is now seeking an archaeologist. We are looking for someone who is passionate about using archaeology as a foundation to develop new knowledge and showcase the region's history. The museum has initiated the process towards a newly opened museum building filled with new exhibitions, including one based on archaeological grounds. We are building new knowledge about the earliest history of mining and the landscape use during the younger Iron Age. We are active throughout the region and offer archaeological programs for school classes, both in the classroom and in the field. Are you the one we're looking for? We are seeking someone who is motivated and enjoys working with the region's history through archaeology: managing archaeological finds in the collection, knowledge building in the field, exhibition production, and communication to the public and schools. You have a strong interest in working with collections and developing knowledge bases for the museum's exhibitions, mobile scenes, and digital platforms. It is important that you enjoy working in various environments and contexts, both in the field with external contacts and in collection storage and museum exhibitions. You like conducting tours and school programs. You are welcoming and adept at creating connections with people of different ages and backgrounds. Additionally, you are expected to be meticulous, independent, and experienced with administrative tasks. We place great emphasis on personal qualities during selection. About the Position As an archaeologist, you will work on content development for archaeological exhibitions and scenes, knowledge building both in the field and through collection work. You will conduct archaeological school programs and other public activities. Further tasks include planning practical duties such as packing and mounting equipment and props for various events. We place great importance on good collaboration. You will work with collection staff focusing on archaeology, exhibition producers, and the museum's educators.
