About this role
Do you want to be part of developing - and growing with - a world-leading company in industrial automation, power supply, and connection technology? In our Malmö office, our Nordic Application Center is expanding, and we are now building a new function focused on Power Reliability.
Downtime and stationary machines are costly for our customers and society. Therefore, reliable power supply – what we call PRE (Power Reliability) – is crucial. Phoenix Contact offers solutions and concepts that create security and stability in customer applications, including power supply, overvoltage protection, energy measurement, and potential equalization. As an Application Engineer within PRE, you will become part of the expertise that builds future solutions for maximum system availability.
We are therefore seeking Application Engineers within Power Reliability – two technical key personnel who want to help our customers shape future industrial solutions. Both roles encompass the same technical breadth, but with different specialized focus.
General PRE Expertise: Focus on complex industrial solutions with broad application within the Power Reliability product portfolio. Here, your breadth, problem-solving ability, and understanding of application holistics are important.
High Power Applications: Focus on energy and battery storage (BESS), DC networks and distribution, and industrial charging systems.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a PRE Application Engineer, you will be responsible, in collaboration with our Nordic sales and marketing team, for demonstrating the value of Phoenix Contact's Power Reliability solutions. You will work closely with our customers and provide technical support throughout the entire process – from consultation and product selection to design-in, troubleshooting, and implementation.
You will become an important technical resource both internally and externally, managing seminars, training sessions, customer workshops, and support efforts. You will operate in a Nordic context and contribute to further developing our Power Reliability offering – all to ensure maximum system availability in our customers' applications.
With us, you will work with freedom under responsibility and be given the opportunity to influence both customer and our own development.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Advise and propose solutions within the Power Reliability range, and if needed, write a manual describing the solution.
• Be a technical expert on our products and applications – both externally and internally
• Support the sales organization with technical expertise and identify new target customers
• Plan and conduct technical training, seminars, and webinars
• Handle technical customer issues and support, and document these in our CRM system
• Contribute in design phase, implementation, and field support in customer projects
• Test and simulate customer applications with our products
• Serve as a link between Nordic subsidiaries and HQ
YOUR BACKGROUND
We are looking for a candidate with at least 5 years of work experience in the automation industry with strong practical experience in industrial automation, power supply solutions, or electrical design. You have experience with international contacts, especially Nordic, and a willingness to travel when needed (primarily within the Nordics, but also to Germany).
We also believe you have knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Modbus TCP, IO-Link, and for the High-Power role, CAN-bus.
Programming skills in C/C++, C#, Python, or IEC 61131-3 based languages are highly meriting, as there is a need to create function blocks for various PLCs.
For the High-Power role: Documented experience in energy storage, DC distribution, or charging infrastructure.
Phoenix Contact's system is based on comprehensive and innovative product programs for industrial automation, power supply, industrial communication, and connection technology. To offer customers an optimal solution with their system, it is crucial to understand the customer's current solution and be able to develop and present the best possible alternative.
Training on Phoenix Contact's components and systems occurs internally, but good knowledge of power supply from a holistic perspective is a requirement. You should be fluent in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing, and be familiar with programs like Office365 and BI systems. A driver's license (B-license) is also required.
YOUR PERSONALITY
To succeed in the role, we are looking for a candidate characterized by strong drive and who always strives with commitment to achieve good results and develop. You have strong communication skills and can collaborate with customers and colleagues through a structured and service-friendly approach. With an unpretentious attitude, you gladly share your knowledge and thrive in a team where members help each other and strive towards common goals.
