About this role

In psychiatric inpatient care, you combine qualified responsibility with a sustainable workday – characterized by a positive atmosphere, a safe working environment, and long-term professional development. **Job Responsibilities** As a senior physician in inpatient care, you are responsible for accurate diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients at a stage where care needs are often complex and demanding. You lead and distribute the medical work on the ward in close collaboration with nursing staff, psychologists, and social workers, take responsibility for care planning and continuity, and conduct both acute assessments and structured follow-ups of interventions. The role includes mentoring younger colleagues and students, as well as the opportunity for on-call duties. The work is conducted in accordance with applicable legislation, with a particular emphasis on the correct and legally secure application of the LPT (Mental Health Act). **About the Workplace** The psychiatric inpatient care in Västerås consists of 5 wards with different specializations, as well as a psychiatric emergency department, and is a continuously developing operation. You express yourself fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written, and thrive in an environment where rapid situations are balanced with structured follow-ups. As a person, you are secure and personally mature with good clinical judgment and a holistic view. You are empathetic and relationship-building, clear in your communication, and decisive when the situation requires it. Your working style is independent and structured, and you contribute pedagogical guidance that enhances the team’s quality and learning. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability for the role. **Employment Conditions** Permanent position, daytime. There is an opportunity for on-call work with an orientation program. Start date by agreement.
