About this role
Make a difference. Every day.
At Hässleholm Hospital, we offer close care with both inpatient and outpatient services in internal medicine specialties as well as rehabilitation medicine. Attached to the hospital is an emergency department with limited opening hours and an acute care ward. Furthermore, we host the largest elective orthopedic operation in Skåne.
Within the orthopedic department, there is an operating room, outpatient surgery department, recovery care, anesthesia department, and inpatient care facilities, as well as a spine section for outpatient work and outpatient care. This department is expected to operate approximately 5,000 patients in Hässleholm this year, with the goal of gradually increasing the volume. We are also responsible for acute orthopedics at the Central Hospital in Kristianstad, including on-call services, surgical operations, and inpatient care. The project "Future Orthopedics in Hässleholm" (FORTH) is underway, planning for new operating facilities.
The department has a volume and research focus on prosthetic surgery for knees and hips. Additionally, there is a large and highly specialized section for foot surgery, which includes advanced hindfoot surgery in addition to forefoot and midfoot surgery. The shoulder section handles all types of surgical operations, including advanced prosthetic surgery. The hand section has a high patient volume in outpatient hand surgery but also possesses clinical and research expertise in advanced hand surgery. The anesthesia section is fully integrated into the orthopedic operations and has significant opportunities to develop both clinically and in research regarding the combination of general and regional anesthesia. Moreover, there is an ambition to increase the number of surgeries in spinal surgery to better meet patient needs in this area.
For those interested in research, we have a substantial amount of clinical material suitable for research and are a university hospital unit (USV unit) with active research, development, and innovation in our clinical focus areas.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are now seeking a new senior physician for our spine section.
At Hässleholm Hospital, we maintain a high production pace, and we also operate on patients who are sometimes sicker than those managed by private healthcare providers. We take pride in being able to assist this patient category. We prioritize medical safety and the work environment above all in our operations.
The role encompasses all parts of the patient process within the department and its flows. Your closest colleagues, in addition to other orthopedic doctors, are our anesthesiologists and physiotherapists, with whom you will work very closely, as our operations are a cohesive unit with both surgical and anesthesia responsibilities. You also have an important role in mentoring younger colleagues.
The clinical development within purely elective operations places new demands on our orthopedic specialists in the team surrounding the patient, where one acts as both operator, flow manager, and logistician. A focus is on the extensive and increasing patient flows, which, along with the composition of patients and clinical conditions, are areas that have a significant need for new knowledge and research, particularly regarding surgical methods within the orthopedic core area.

This may have been acquired through mentoring nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co- or primary supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in mentoring, and teaching at various levels.
We value a respectful and humble approach towards patients and colleagues, as well as being a team player.
