Workshop Technician at John Crane in Västra Frölunda As a workshop technician at John Crane, you will work in the service department primarily focusing on the refurbishment of mechanical seals for the process industry. About the Role • To be a good fit for this role, you need to be hands-on with a strong technical interest and be quality and safety conscious. • You will be responsible for the entire refurbishment process from receipt, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and analysis to assembly, report writing, testing, and delivery. • Basic manual machining, lapping, polishing, and cleaning of components are included. • When necessary, you will perform root cause analyses of incoming service cases and propose the best solutions for the customer in consultation with our support engineers. • You will conduct preventive maintenance on our workshop machines. • Your tasks will also include some inventory management of incoming and outgoing goods and orders. • You will contribute to developing new working methods and instructions for the workshop and warehouse. • At John Crane, there is a strong focus on continuous improvement, so experience with quality work such as 5S is advantageous. John Crane also has high standards for compliance with health and safety regulations. • The majority of the work takes place on-site in the workshop in Västra Frölunda, but service visits to customers may occur. Education and Experience • We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in practical service work, preferably from the process industry or from servicing mechanical seals, pumps, valves, or similar. • We prefer candidates with a practical/workshop technical education and experience working in a mechanical workshop or in service and maintenance. • You need to be able to read and understand technical drawings. • Experience working in a factory within the pulp & paper, oil & gas, petrochemical industry, or mining environment is advantageous, as is experience in maritime work. • You should be able to work independently as well as in a team and be responsible for planning incoming work to the workshop to ensure timely deliveries to customers. • Proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is required, and a driver's license is a must. • Knowledge of business systems is advantageous; at John Crane, we use SAP.
