Job Tasks As a Social Sustainability Development Specialist, you will play a key role in developing approaches, processes, and collaboration methods between social services and community planning. You will, among other things: • Create and drive new collaboration forms between social services and community planning. • Initiate and lead development projects that strengthen preventive and promotional perspectives. • Participate in municipal planning processes from planning decisions and preliminary studies to detailed plans and design of public spaces, focusing on social perspectives. • Develop materials, analyses, and methods for social sustainability and social impact assessments. • Provide support to management and departments on social dimensions of physical planning, housing provision, and investment projects. • Build networks and lead cross-sectoral collaboration forums. • Communicate, educate, and disseminate knowledge about socially sustainable community planning. • Propose indicators and contribute to follow-up and evaluation of social goals. QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking candidates who have: • Academic degree in social sciences, political science, sociology, public health, behavioral sciences, or equivalent with an interest in community planning. • Several years of experience working on social issues or in similar public sector activities. • Experience with development, change, or collaboration work across organizational boundaries. • Good knowledge of social services' mandate, the new Social Services Act, and municipal governance. • Ability to analyze complex societal issues and transform knowledge into practical solutions. • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience in process leadership, project management, or work with social sustainability in physical planning is considered meritorious. You are collaborative, analytical, and communicative, with the ability to build relationships, create engagement, and drive development forward.
