About this role

We are intensifying our efforts against benefit fraud within social insurance. Would you like to contribute? The Swedish Social Insurance Agency's primary mission is to administer a large portion of the Swedish social insurance system. In 2024, the agency made approximately 21 million decisions and disbursed around 262 billion SEK. The money paid out is intended for those entitled to compensation, but every year, significant amounts of public resources are lost due to benefit fraud. The consequences are serious, including undermining trust in our collective welfare systems. We are enhancing our capacity to combat benefit fraud by establishing a new division, the Benefit Fraud Division, where we will consolidate the agency's expertise, knowledge, and capacity in this area. The division will have comprehensive responsibility for the inter-agency work to prevent and counter benefit fraud, from operational to strategic levels. This means that the division will play a crucial role in the agency's efforts against benefit fraud and contribute to development within the area of responsibility, both internally and externally. We are seeking a committed and goal-oriented manager for the Legal Support area within the Benefit Fraud Division. This is an opportunity for you to collaborate with your colleagues in the division's management team to develop and lead an operation with a socially important mandate. Responsibilities and tasks You and your team are responsible for ensuring that legal governance and support reach the case officers in the division, so they always have the conditions to make materially correct decisions in each individual case. Those working with fraud investigations, recovery, and administrative sanctions need legal support in their daily work, but the area of responsibility also includes providing legal support in development work. The Swedish Social Insurance Agency is acquiring more and more powers and opportunities in the fight against benefit fraud, which necessitates legal development work in the implementation of reforms. The division will also contribute to regulatory development aimed at preventing benefit fraud. The area of responsibility includes re-evaluations and legal proceedings in the division's cases. You will carry out your mission in close collaboration with other parts of the division and with the Legal Department. As a manager at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, you lead the operation with a holistic perspective based on decided policies. Your engagement in leadership is significant, and the foundational values of the state permeate your work. Through dialogue about the division's and operation's purpose, goals, and strategies, you create conditions for the area managers and employees to be able and willing to take significant responsibility for the area's results and their own development. You are part of the division's management team, and your immediate superior is the division head. In your role, you support the division head's decision-making and are responsible for implementing the decisions made within your area. As a chief of staff/area manager, you are responsible for achieving a relevant balance between operational and strategic work, short and long term, as well as between people and tasks. You have operational responsibility, budget responsibility, and personnel responsibility. The position involves handling confidential information, which places high demands on appropriate management. Therefore, it is important that you, as a prospective employee, have a strong awareness of security. This is a job for you who want to take responsibility. We are looking for someone who: • holds a law degree or equivalent • has previous managerial experience • possesses good leadership skills • has strong strategic abilities with a holistic and developmental perspective • collaborates effectively with others to achieve common goals • has strong analytical skills • takes initiative and acts proactively, makes things happen, and takes responsibility for results • has self-awareness and is a stable person, fostering a trusting work climate • promotes mutual dialogue, is receptive, and adapts communication according to needs and situations • has excellent communication skills • has experience leading cross-functional work. It is an advantage if you: • have experience leading through other managers • have experience and ability in regulatory development work. We place great importance on your personal qualities. Additional Information The position is permanent, full-time, with a start date by agreement. A probationary period may be applicable. In accordance with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's security guidelines, background checks will be conducted in this recruitment. This position requires Swedish citizenship. Psychological testing may be used as part of the selection process. Location: Stockholm (Telefonplan), Gothenburg, or Malmö.
