The Traffic Office is responsible for managing and developing Stockholm's public spaces to ensure they are safe, attractive, accessible, and sustainable. The mission includes everything from maintaining the existing urban environment to implementing strategic investment projects and planning for tomorrow's growing metropolis. To fulfill our mission, we are about 470 colleagues, primarily located in the newly renovated premises of the Technical Committee House on Kungsholmen. The temporary position of Operations Controller is based in the staff unit at the Traffic Office in the City of Stockholm.
The staff unit is responsible for the dialogue with the Traffic Commissioner’s staff, the Traffic Committee, and the city's other political leadership. The unit is also responsible for developing the office's operational plan and associated documents. Additionally, the staff unit manages the administration of the office's management group, works on overarching investigations and referrals, and drives strategically prioritized operational development projects.
The position is limited to twelve months, starting in mid-March.
Your role
The primary task of the Operations Controller is to lead the office's work with operational planning and follow-up. This includes writing the Traffic Committee's operational plan, quarterly reports, operational accounts, and budget materials. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the office's management group. The role also includes assisting the head of the staff unit with investigations as needed and serving as the office's international contact person.
As an Operations Controller, you will work on:
- Developing the written components of the office's budget materials, preliminary operational plan, operational plan, quarterly reports, and operational accounts together with the office's managers and other employees.
- Presenting to the management group, administrative group, and other forums.
- Delivering presentations to units and departments about the Traffic Office's plans and follow-up.
- Supporting units and departments in developing operational plans.
- Managing the city's integrated management and control system (ILS-web) for the Traffic Office, including setting up new users and answering questions.
- Acting as the Traffic Office's contact person for international matters.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree in fields such as political science, law, or social sciences.
- Work experience in a similar role.
- Excellent command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
Experience within a politically governed organization, preferably in a role from the municipal side, is considered an asset. Knowledge of integrated management systems (ILS) or equivalent systems like Stratsys, as well as knowledge of operational governance, is also advantageous.
To succeed in the role of Operations Controller, you are analytical, self-driven, communicative, and a skilled writer who quickly grasps new issues. Furthermore, you are comfortable being a generalist and maintaining a holistic perspective on operations. The role requires excellent coordination and collaboration skills. It is important to be able to structure and plan your work according to deadlines. Additionally, you are comfortable speaking in front of groups and experienced in conducting training sessions, workshops, and similar activities.
