Akademiska Hospital offers specialized and highly specialized care locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Together with our partner organizations, we follow the patient throughout the entire care chain, even beyond our hospital. We are a leading university hospital in Sweden, focused on achieving the best clinical outcomes for patients. The quality of healthcare, our close collaboration with Uppsala University, and our strong life science cluster form the basis of our internationally competitive clinical research and education. Akademiska Hospital has many different roles – county hospital, specialist hospital, training hospital, and research hospital. In daily practice, these roles blend together. This creates the conditions and explanation for the experience, expertise, and care found here. Akademiska Hospital's vision is to be the leading university hospital that creates the greatest value for patients.
Our Operations
The surgical operations consist of three surgical care departments and four clinics providing acute and advanced elective surgical care across multiple sections. The urological operations include an inpatient ward and a comprehensive outpatient clinic. We have approximately 500 employees in total.
A large proportion of care in both operations involves national and regional patients referred for highly specialized investigation and treatment. These two research-intensive clinics have a close collaboration with Uppsala University. Education and development are priority areas of the operations.
Your Assignment
As operations manager, you report to the area manager and are part of the area management team. You have overall responsibility for the area's finances, production, work environment, patient safety, care quality, and R&D assignments. Your mission is to lead and develop the operations comprehensively towards established goals. In your role as operations manager, you lead the operations through close and active collaboration with section chiefs and department heads.
You contribute to the development of both the operational area and the hospital's overall progress, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Uppsala University is a crucial partner in our education and research mission, and in your role, you develop favorable conditions for this collaboration.
Your Qualifications
We are seeking someone with extensive experience in management roles within healthcare, preferably from a university hospital. You must be a licensed physician, and we prefer specialist competence in a relevant specialty. Research and teaching experience are meritorious.
Your Competence
You have a strong interest in management and governance while being results-oriented and capable of prioritizing, making decisions, and implementing them. You communicate clearly and ensure messages are understood and expectations are clear for all involved parties. You have financial awareness, make correct assessments and priorities, synthesize complex information, and demonstrate judgment in statements, actions, and decisions.
We seek someone who engages and inspires change and development. You easily create trustworthy relationships. You are a clear and confident leader who fosters participation and commitment in your operations. Through your leadership, you work to ensure a good work environment and, together with your management team, build structure and culture within the operations. You are passionate about our patients and developing the care we offer.
If, as a leader, you can embody our core values – skilled, humble, and long-term – then Akademiska Hospital could be the right challenge for you.
