Water Meter Technician

This position is an expansion and belongs to the operations unit of the Pipe Network under the Water & Waste department. The unit currently has 13 employees who work together with a focus on operational reliability, maintenance, and development of water and sewage systems. The Water & Waste department is part of the Technical Administration. Our administration works to ensure that the municipality's traffic environment is safe and accessible, and that children, youth, and the elderly receive nutritious and good food in our school activities and special accommodations. We are responsible for residents' access to clean and fresh water from the tap. We manage the collection of household waste and waste facilities, cleaning services for our administrative premises, contract and rental management, as well as service. We also oversee recreational facilities, parks, and playgrounds. The administration employs nearly 200 staff members focused on strategy, sustainability, collegial learning, and collaboration across boundaries—with the best interests of businesses and residents in mind! JOB DESCRIPTION As a water meter technician with us, you will work with the installation, maintenance, and replacement of water meters for our customers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and sustainable water measurement. Your work will be varied, allowing you to meet many different customers, both individuals and businesses. The work will be carried out both independently and in collaboration with others. Your main responsibilities will include: • Installation, replacement, and servicing of water meters • Inspection and troubleshooting of meter locations • Customer interaction and appointment scheduling • Documentation in digital systems • Reporting of discrepancies and suggestions for improvement • Collaboration with colleagues within the Water department. QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for this position, you need to have a technical education at least at the high school level or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Since we cover a large area, you also need to have a valid B driver's license. It is important that you have good computer skills and administrative abilities for documentation, as we work in systems. Previous experience in water management, plumbing work, or similar is desirable. In your role, you will encounter many different customers, making it essential that you are service-oriented. During days or periods that may feel stressful for you, it is important to remain calm, stable, and focused on the right tasks. As the workday may change due to unforeseen events, you need to be flexible and able to adapt quickly. Since the work is performed both independently and in groups, you should be a person who takes responsibility for your tasks, maintains good structure, and has excellent collaboration skills.
