About this role

The Eye Department in Region Gävleborg has the overarching mission to provide both emergency and planned ophthalmic care, including outpatient and surgical services as well as vision rehabilitation. The operations are conducted in Gävle, Hudiksvall, and Bollnäs, led by a department manager and five unit managers in line functions. The Eye Clinic in Hudiksvall conducts outpatient and surgical services, is responsible for staffing the eye clinic in Bollnäs, and manages large patient flows. Our team includes doctors, nurses, ophthalmic nurses, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, optometrists, administrators, and receptionists. Our clinic is a technology-intensive operation characterized by numerous patient interactions and a positive work environment. We are now looking for someone who, together with our staff, wants to continue driving and developing the operations of the eye clinic and contribute to a workplace with high competence and a good working environment. **RESPONSIBILITIES** You will work in a shared leadership role alongside a managerial colleague. You will work strategically from a holistic perspective, and in close collaboration, you will plan and lead the operations. In your role, you will lead a competent team of approximately 30 employees, including nurses, ophthalmic nurses, nursing assistants, and optometrists. As the unit manager, you will be responsible for personnel, operations, and finances. These three areas are interconnected, where all parts must function for the operations to succeed. The clinic is currently in a development phase to organize the future of ophthalmic care in the best possible way. This means you will play a significant role in driving the work related to an upcoming move to new premises, as well as balancing finances and competencies in relation to current and future care needs. You will face challenges but will also be involved in finding solutions, where collaboration is a key factor. There is strong collegial support and high competence within the department for you to draw upon. You will report directly to the department manager and be part of the management team of the operational area. The following qualifications are required for the position: • A higher education degree, with a focus on health care • Experience in leading improvement and change initiatives • Documented managerial and/or leadership experience.
