Job Description: Unit Manager for Eye Care Unit in Region Gävleborg
The Eye Care Department in Region Gävleborg has the overall mission of providing acute and planned eye healthcare, including emergency, outpatient, and surgical services, as well as vision rehabilitation. The operation is conducted in Gävle, Hudiksvall, and Bollnäs and is led by a department manager and five unit managers in a line management structure.
The Eye Care Clinic in Gävle operates emergency, outpatient, and surgical services and manages large patient volumes. Our team includes physicians, eye nurses, nurses, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, opticians, orthoptists, administrators, and receptionists.
We are seeking a candidate who, together with colleagues, wants to continue driving and developing the eye care unit and contribute to a workplace with high competence and a good work environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
You will work in a shared leadership role with a management colleague. You will work strategically from a holistic perspective and collaborate closely to plan and lead the operation. In your role, you will lead a competent team of approximately 10 physicians. You will spend 50% of your time working clinically and 50% on management and leadership tasks.
As a Unit Manager, you are responsible for personnel, operations, and finances, viewing these three areas as an interconnected whole, where each depends on the others to achieve a successful operation.
Your assignment includes:
• Planning, leading, developing, and following up on operations
• Creating conditions for an attractive workplace through dialogue and participation
• Driving the unit's development forward, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
• Participating personally and creating good conditions for internal and external collaboration
• Developing and improving the work environment together with your team
• Working 50% clinically
The clinic is in a development phase of organizing future eye healthcare in the best possible way. This means you will play a significant role in driving this work, balancing economy and competence in relation to current and future healthcare needs. You will face challenges while collaborating to find solutions. There is good collegial support and high competence within the department for you to access.
You report directly to the Department Manager and are part of the management group, which offers an exciting role where you are engaged in the entire department's results and development.
