About the Organization
The Municipal Association for Swedish Air Ambulance (KSA) operates a national air ambulance service together with healthcare providers from Västerbotten Region, Uppsala Region, and Västra Götaland Region.
Västra Götaland Region has, in turn, delegated the healthcare provider responsibility to Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Area 5, An/Op/ICU Östra.
The purpose is to increase patient benefit and patient safety through coordination of shared air transportation resources. The service provides air ambulance services 24/7 for the entire country. The aircraft are specially adapted for airborne medical care and are stationed at Arlanda, Landvetter, and Umeå airports. The service was launched in autumn 2021, with the Landvetter airport base opening in February 2022.
Your Assignment
Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Area 5, An/Op/ICU Östra, is now recruiting a Nursing Unit Manager for the Landvetter airport base. You will work full-time as a Nursing Unit Manager for the flight operations. The position includes clinical participation as a flight nurse and nurse in anesthesia and/or intensive care at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. You will be responsible for approximately 15 nurses working in flight operations, including responsibility for work environment, daily staffing, scheduling, and financial follow-up. All work occurs in close daily dialogue with managers from the other two bases. The Medically Responsible Physician (MLA) is responsible for medical quality, and your ability to collaborate with the base's MLA is of utmost importance. Together with the MLA and leadership from other bases, you are expected to establish clear goals for the operation and employees, and to communicate and follow up on these goals in a structured manner.
Your working hours as a Nursing Unit Manager will be during daytime. When participating in flight operations, working hours are 24/7. As a Nursing Unit Manager, you will report directly to the Area Manager for An/Op/ICU Östra and be part of the area's management team.
Your Qualifications
You are a licensed nurse with specialist competence in anesthesia and/or intensive care, with at least three years of professional experience in the specialty. Previous experience in air ambulance and education in flight medicine is highly meritorious. We prefer candidates with an academic background, and previous management or leadership experience is also beneficial for the position. As a manager, you should have good digital competence. In your role as a nurse, you will need to communicate with international healthcare providers and therefore must be proficient in English.
