About Askersund Parish Askersund Parish was formed four years ago and encompasses three parishes: Askersund-Hammar Parish, Lerbäck Parish, and Snavlunda Parish, with a total of seven church spaces where we continuously celebrate services in three of them. In the parish, the small town of Askersund meets the proximity to Tived's forests, Lake Vättern's archipelago, and the wide countryside. The parish has approximately 7,500 church members. As parish priest, you are the spiritual leader and manager of approximately 30 employees. We are seeking a parish priest who wants to lead us with both security and sensitivity into the future. Our parish stands on the solid ground of living traditions and a stable organization, but also on the threshold of something new. Here are three parishes with different expressions and characteristics that now need to continue developing into a cohesive whole. Job Responsibilities In the role of parish priest, you have overall responsibility for the parish's activities, employees, and finances. You will lead the work together with two team leaders by being a present and committed manager who creates a work environment characterized by cooperation, clarity, and participation. Together with employees, church council, elected officials, and parish members, you will work to develop and strengthen the parish's life and activities. The position also includes a priest's usual tasks, such as celebrating services, church ceremonies, conversations, and meetings with people of all ages. The position is based in Askersund. Evening, weekend, and holiday work is included. Qualifications We are seeking someone who: - Is ordained according to the Church of Sweden's regulations - Holds a qualifying parish priest education - Has a B driver's license as travel is part of the job - Has basic knowledge of the Office package and works comfortably in digital environments (Teams, email, etc.) - Has good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written We prefer candidates with previous experience in a leadership position, including personnel management, budget responsibility, and operational responsibility. You have the ability to see the overall mission of the parish and can balance strategic thinking with operational work in a wise and inclusive manner. As a leader, you are structured, self-driven, and financially aware. You have the ability to create order, clarity, and participation in the organization. At the same time, you are relationship-oriented and thrive in encounters with people. You have an inclusive view of humanity and see diversity as a strength.
