About this role

Your everyday life - contribute to strengthening Sweden's total defense within a technology and development unit The Fortifications Agency is a government authority with a vital societal mission that is experiencing strong growth. One of our main tasks is to develop fortification expertise for total defense. The Technology and Development Unit for Fortification and Properties (TUFF) is tasked with developing fortification expertise and advancing protective and construction technology for total defense. The unit currently consists of four groups: Program, Technical Supply, Product Development, and Construction and Property, with a total of approximately 60 employees in various specialist roles. Starting in 2026, we will establish the fifth group, Protection Development. The Protection Development group, consisting of about seven employees, is responsible for developing protective technical solutions for total defense, as well as providing technical support and training. Within the group, there are development engineers and specialists in physical protection, UAS/UAV, and camouflage. As a development engineer/specialist in the newly formed group, you will become part of the expert competence in protective products, protective technical solutions, locks, and technical surveillance. The tasks include: • Participating in or leading development projects focused on buildings and facilities, • Supporting project managers in the new, renovation, and reconstruction of facilities, as well as providing support for the management of these properties, • Supporting and training other authorities within total defense, and • Engaging in national and international networks. Planned travel is included in the position, and the workplace is located in Eskilstuna. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a university or civil engineer with a relevant focus, such as technology, physics, or security and protection. Alternatively, you have other education that the employer considers relevant. It is also a requirement that you have work experience in technical projects in a supportive or leading role. For the role, good knowledge of Swedish and English is required. You are accustomed to using the Office suite and possess good administrative skills. Since the position involves travel, a Class B driver's license is required. Swedish citizenship is a requirement. Experience in the following areas is advantageous: • Physical protection, protective technology, or related competence areas (e.g., access, shooting, and explosion protection). • Fortification or work with the Armed Forces or the defense sector. • Technical surveillance (alarms, access systems, or video surveillance).
