Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County, consisting of the districts of Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 residents and over 6,400 employees.
The Social Administration provides support to the residents of Botkyrka and is responsible for public authority functions, primarily according to the Social Services Act. The support is for both individuals and their relatives. The Social Administration has a special responsibility for children, youth, and adults in need of support under social legislation. We are about 500 employees who, using strength-based approaches, provide support to the residents of Botkyrka in an equitable, fair, and safe manner.

The Position and Responsibilities
We are looking for a social worker for the Young Adults Investigation Unit.
Here, you will meet citizens aged 18 to 25 with psychosocial issues, such as mental health problems, addiction, social vulnerability, comorbidity, and criminality. The unit is also responsible for a program for adults leaving criminality, with no upper age limit.
You will assess needs, conduct evaluations, and make decisions in accordance with applicable legislation. You will plan and follow up on interventions together with the client, who is always an active participant in their own process. You will meet clients where they are; at home, in the community, and in their own change process. You will work operationally and maintain close contact with both clients and collaborative partners. You will use a motivational and structured approach with a focus on quality and legal security, thereby contributing to clients being able to live as independently as possible in the long term.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assessing needs, granting interventions, and following up in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines
- Conducting safety assessments for young adults
- Managing and following up on placements for young adults
- Motivating for change
- Collaborating and working in teams with internal and external partners.
Most of the cases handled by the unit are transferred from child and youth units after the client turns 18.

Our team consists of 14 employees with broad and specialized expertise. We have social workers, social workers focusing on exit from criminality, SIG/exiting coordination, case support, senior social workers, and a unit manager. We work in a safe work environment with an updated health and safety strategy and have received positive feedback from the Swedish Work Environment Authority for our preventive work against threats, violence, and undue influence. The team culture is strong, staff turnover is low, and we are proud that no one has resigned since early 2022. This position is being filled as a replacement for a colleague going on parental leave.

Who You Are
You have a degree in social work or another academic degree in behavioral sciences, including social law. You also have several years of experience in public authority functions within social services, focusing on addiction, criminality, social psychiatry, and young adults.
Other requirements for the position:
- Experience in motivational work with individuals in vulnerable life situations.
- Experience working with digital tools.
- Proficiency in spoken and written Swedish in a professional context.
Meritorious:
- Experience in public authority functions based on the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU) and the Care of Addicts Act (LVM).
- Training in MI, RBM, LS/CMI, SAVRY, BBIC, and Signs of Safety.
- Experience collaborating with healthcare, addiction treatment, police, and correctional services.
- Experience with the Life Care operational system.
- A valid driver's license (B).
- Since Botkyrka is a multilingual municipality, being multilingual is also an asset.
You are confident in your professional role and can make well-founded decisions even in pressured or complex situations. You have an analytical approach and can broaden your perspective to see the young person's needs and identify the right intervention for a long-term result. The work requires you to be structured and enjoy working methodically in an environment where multiple investigations are ongoing simultaneously.
