About this role

About the Role

Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago, combining the serene beauty of nature with a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one, but many: schools, real estate, social services, ports, healthcare, libraries, care services, and many more. We work to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live rich and free lives. We aspire to be the enablers of the dream for a vibrant and secure environment for homes, families, and businesses.

To fully achieve this, we must possess a wide range of competencies and work together to create a shared and trusting work culture, built on brave and responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the residents.

Do you want the opportunity to make a difference for many people? Do you want to be part of a team of dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues? Then you should apply to Värmdö Municipality’s procurement department, where we are currently seeking a procurement officer in the area of kitchens and food. The Procurement Unit plays a vital role in the municipality's efforts to use public procurement as a tool to drive sustainable community development.

Responsibilities

The task is to ensure that the municipality’s purchases are efficient, resource-smart, and sustainable over time. Here, you will find specialists in procurement, contract management, and e-commerce. The team currently consists of about 15 employees, including a unit manager, who work in pleasant premises in Gustavsberg, characterized by a culture of collaboration and knowledge exchange. Together, we focus on the mission and development of our operations.

Your main duties as a procurement officer will include:

  • Being responsible for the planning and execution of procurements of varying complexity and scope in a business-like manner, ensuring the needs of the operations and the municipality’s residents are met.
  • Independently and collaboratively preparing and compiling procurement documents and contracts, as well as being responsible for bid evaluation.
  • Managing and proactively monitoring awarded contracts.
  • Acting in an advisory role regarding procurement and purchasing issues within the municipality.
  • Maintaining continuous contact and dialogue with both clients and suppliers, and notably, with the municipality’s operations.
  • Actively participating in the unit’s development work on work methods, common processes, templates, and routines related to procurement.

Requirements

For the position of procurement officer, we require you to have a talent for planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work efficiently, especially when handling multiple ongoing projects simultaneously. You take responsibility, dare to make decisions, and drive projects forward. You are confident in your abilities and unreservedly trust others. You take pride in your profession and wish to engage and contribute alongside fellow procurement enthusiasts. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who is quick-thinking, pragmatic, and a team player. Contributing to good cooperation both internally and externally is essential.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree or vocational education with a focus on procurement/purchasing, law, economics, engineering, or other relevant education that we assess to be equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of the Public Procurement Act (LOU), gained through both theoretical education and practical implementation (>3 years).
  • Strong communication, analytical, and good collaborative skills—the ability to work with tailored messages to target groups and individuals in both written and verbal form; excellent proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

  • Significant experience in food procurement.
  • Significant experience in commodity-related procurement.

Benefits

In this recruitment, great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. We value the qualities that diversity brings to the organization and therefore welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and gender identities for the position.

Värmdö Municipality offers wellness allowances, SL cards with net salary deductions, and vacation trading for extra days off. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good working environment and apply smoke-free working hours. This is achieved by providing good opportunities for wellness and striving for a healthy balance between work and private life.
