The department conducts education and research in industrial economics, industrial design, and mechanical engineering. A common foundation for the activities is to develop knowledge about industrial systems, organizations, processes, flows, and products with consideration for social, economic, and ecological sustainability. The department has a strong connection with the surrounding community, and students, teachers, and researchers work closely with industry and authorities. Responsibilities As a University Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, you will dedicate your time to both teaching and research, as well as related collaboration. Teaching includes planning, executing, evaluating, and developing courses within a bachelor's program in Mechanical Engineering and an industrial design program based on scientific principles. The programs have access to extensive workshop resources, such as modeling workshop, workshop for bio-based materials, wood workshop, metal workshop, machine workshop, and 3D printing workshop. Research includes initiating, conducting, and reporting research, supervising doctoral students, and seeking and obtaining research funding. An important aspect of the position is to contribute to increasing external funding for research and enhancing collaboration with the surrounding community. Your workplace will be at the University of Gävle, where most of your work hours will be located. Qualifications The eligibility requirements for the position are a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or another subject deemed equivalent by the employer, with a specialization in product development. To be eligible for the position as University Lecturer, you must also have demonstrated teaching proficiency. Additionally, you should have: - Experience in pedagogical activities, including planning, implementation (teaching and examination), evaluation, and development of education. - Completed higher education pedagogical training corresponding to at least 10 weeks of full-time studies or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. - The ability to express yourself in spoken and written Swedish and English at a level required by the tasks. - The ability to collaborate and build good relationships internally and externally. The teaching profession offers significant freedom to organize your work, which requires the applicant to demonstrate a good ability to take initiative and work independently. It is advantageous if you have: - The ability to initiate, conduct, and report research of high scientific quality. - The ability to seek and obtain external funding for research and to manage your own research projects. - The ability to collaborate within relevant national or international research networks as well as with the surrounding community. - Experience in supervising doctoral students. - Experience in commissioned education. - Practical experience from the industry. - Eligibility for docent qualifications. The assessment will also consider how the applicant can strengthen and complement the department's research and teaching within the subject area. The evaluation of teaching proficiency will receive equal attention as that of scientific proficiency.
