Subject Description
Research and teaching in social work encompass studies of social problems and their causes and consequences for individuals, groups, and society, as well as societal interventions aimed at managing or solving social problems. The department's research covers a broad area, with an emphasis on social work organization, economic assistance, substance abuse treatment, social work with children and youth, and work with older people and persons with disabilities.
Job Responsibilities
Research, teaching, and development work. Teaching includes examination, course responsibility, course administration, and supervision. The position involves primary responsibility for quantitative methods instruction at both undergraduate and advanced levels. Additionally, the role includes assisting colleagues with consultation and guidance regarding statistical calculations in various research projects.
The incumbent is expected to participate in the ongoing pedagogical development work at the department. This includes supervision and involvement in planning and developing social work education. Job responsibilities also include following developments in their own subject area and broader societal changes relevant to the department's work. The position holder is also expected to undertake administrative tasks and leadership assignments as needed. Externally funded research is a crucial prerequisite for the department's and individual teachers' research activities. Therefore, actively contributing to the department's efforts to secure external funding is part of the job responsibilities.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible for employment as a lecturer are those who have obtained a doctoral degree in social work or a related field, or who have equivalent scientific competence and have demonstrated pedagogical skills. Equivalent scientific competence means a doctoral degree in another social science field where the dissertation and/or continued research clearly addresses themes within the social work domain.
The applicant should have both the ability to collaborate and the overall aptitude and suitability needed to perform the job duties effectively.
Since teaching is conducted in Swedish, the applicant must have good ability to use Swedish in speech and writing, which can be demonstrated through documented experience of teaching in Swedish.
Assessment Criteria
Equal and special emphasis will be placed on scientific and pedagogical skills within the area of employment.
Pedagogical skills should normally have been demonstrated through teaching, course responsibility, and examination at both undergraduate and advanced levels. The skills should be well-documented in a way that allows for assessing the quality of pedagogical activities.
Great importance is attached to documented ability to collaborate with colleagues and co-workers.
Significant weight is given to successfully planning, applying for, and obtaining research project funding from external sources.
Considerable emphasis is placed on administrative skills and the ability to interact with the surrounding society and communicate research and development work.
Great importance is attached to experience in handling and processing large data registers, and reporting research results in the subject area of employment based on such data.
Significant weight is given to a social work degree.
Completed higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way is meritorious.
About the Position
The position includes competence and research time according to current collective agreements.
Applicants lacking higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 higher education credits and not deemed to have acquired equivalent knowledge otherwise will be required to complete such training during the first two years of employment.
