Department of Culture and Aesthetics is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Humanities, with approximately 110 employees and around 2,000 students per academic year.
The subjects at the department include: history of ideas, art history, heritage studies, curating, literary studies, musicology, and theater studies. Teaching and research are conducted in all subjects.

Job Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities involve teaching at the undergraduate level. We are seeking one or several substitute teachers. The candidates should primarily be able to lecture and lead seminars, as well as supervise and examine essays. Some teaching may take place in the evening. Teaching will primarily be in Swedish, but teaching in English may also occur. Teaching will mainly be on campus but may also take place online. Additionally, the substitute is expected to participate in the teaching collective's joint work of developing the subject's teaching thematically and pedagogically.
Eligibility Requirements
Qualified for employment are those who have obtained a doctoral degree in the history of ideas or equivalent. The applicant must have demonstrated pedagogical skills and the ability to teach in Swedish and English. The applicant should also have good collaboration skills and the overall ability and suitability to successfully perform the job tasks.
Assessment Criteria
We are seeking candidates who have ambitions to develop as teachers, researchers, and colleagues at the department.
The application should include a documentation of scientific merits with a description of the applicant's research profile (1-2 pages), a pedagogical self-reflection (1-2 pages), and a certificate from the director of studies or equivalent confirming teaching and pedagogical skills.
In the assessment of candidates, great importance will be placed on pedagogical skills. Documentation of previous teaching experience in the history of ideas or equivalent is required. Completed higher education pedagogical courses, positive course evaluations, and references are meritorious. The ability to collaborate well with colleagues is also important.
For the assessment of scientific skills, the applicant must submit a written account of their research profile and research activities along with the application.
Demonstrated administrative skills, such as developing new courses and/or course responsibility, will also be taken into consideration.

About the Position
The position comprises 50-100% and is time-limited for a period of 3-6 months, starting in January 2026 or by agreement. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting.
