About this role

The Department of Public Health Sciences was established on January 1, 2018, at the Faculty of Social Sciences and currently employs around 70 staff members. We offer a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and internationally renowned research environment. The department hosts two centers: the Center for Research on Health Inequalities (CHESS) and the Center for Social Science Research on Alcohol and Drugs (SoRAD). In recent years, we have undergone an expansion phase regarding the department's educational offerings. In the fall of 2020, we launched our new international master's program in public health sciences, and in the fall of 2022, we also started our bachelor's program in the same field. Job Responsibilities The role consists of teaching within the department's educational offerings. Responsibilities include teaching, supervising, and assessing students at various levels, as well as course responsibility and course development. The applicant is also expected to participate in the pedagogical development work at the department. For this specific position, the main focus will be on the following courses within the department's educational offerings: - PH61G0: Research Fields in Public Health Sciences (Undergraduate, 15 credits). - PH04G0: Social Factors and Health (Undergraduate, 7.5 credits). - PH24G0: Technological Development, Digitalization, and Public Health (Undergraduate, 7.5 credits). - PH14A1: Health and Politics in the Welfare State (Advanced level, 7.5 credits). - PH32G0: Collection and Basic Analysis of Public Health Data (Undergraduate, 7.5 credits). The position includes 70 percent teaching and teaching administration. Additionally, it involves research and personal professional development. Eligibility Requirements To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, the candidate must have demonstrated pedagogical proficiency and hold a doctoral degree or possess equivalent scientific competence. General eligibility requirements include the ability to collaborate as well as the skills and suitability necessary to perform the job responsibilities effectively. Applicants are expected to have a good command of both Swedish and English, in both spoken and written forms. Assessment Criteria Particular emphasis will be placed on pedagogical proficiency. Here, qualifications relevant to the job responsibilities included in the position will be of primary importance, especially concerning the courses listed above. Scientific proficiency and administrative ability will also be valued. The scientific proficiency will primarily be assessed within the subject area of the position. A higher education pedagogical qualification of at least 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways is considered meritorious. The work requires high levels of collaboration skills, creativity, independence, service orientation, and efficiency. Therefore, great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
