Subject/Subject Description
In the field of information systems, a key goal is to develop and adapt information systems to organizational needs. Conceptual modeling, with its focus on ontological knowledge analysis, is a research area that contributes to this by developing methods and tools for eliciting business requirements and designing information system solutions. Research in conceptual modeling focused on ontologies involves theories, methods, and tools for knowledge acquisition, representation, and analysis to create specification requirements for organizational and system design. Conceptual modeling is core to many successful research and technology areas, such as systems analysis, design, and business architecture. Conceptual modeling and particularly ontological analysis is a research area that contributes to many domains requiring formality in knowledge representation.
