Subject Area The subject area for the position is social work. About Us The subject of social work at Örebro University is part of the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Legal Sciences (BSR), alongside psychology, law, and criminology. Within the subject, and at the unit for social work at Örebro University, we offer the social work program, the health and medical care social worker program (advanced level), independent courses at both basic and advanced levels, various commissioned training programs, and doctoral education. Research in social work addresses various aspects of the significance of social relationships and the structural conditions for social change work with individuals facing challenging living conditions across different life phases within professional life and institutions. The research covers studies of social issues concerning the vulnerability of children and young people, adults, and the elderly, as well as the conditions and prerequisites for social work and related social interventions. Job Responsibilities A university lecturer is primarily expected to dedicate their time to teaching at the undergraduate level and related collaboration. A university lecturer should also contribute to the development of the university. The successful candidate will teach within the social work program, primarily in the course "Theory of Science and Method in Social Work" and "Child-Parent Relationships in Societies and Families." The candidate may also supervise bachelor's and master's theses in the unit's programs and independent courses, depending on formal qualifications. The position may also include research-related tasks within the framework of an externally funded project on the social services' investigative work with children and young people at risk of commercial sexual exploitation (SUKSE). Qualifications To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, the candidate must demonstrate pedagogical proficiency and have completed a degree at least at the master's level (or equivalent) in a relevant field. Other theoretical qualifications combined with relevant experience in the subject area may be considered equivalent to a master's degree. Teachers must have the ability to inform, collaborate with the surrounding community, and promote the utilization of the university's research. National and international experience and mobility will be taken into account. Additionally, the candidate's suitability will be assessed. Other Assessment Criteria • The language of instruction is Swedish, which requires the candidate to communicate, both in writing and verbally, in Swedish. • The position involves teaching both quantitative and qualitative methods, which means that knowledge of various research methods at an advanced level is a requirement. • The candidate must possess knowledge and practical experience that corresponds well to the content of the courses they will teach. • Having a PhD in social work, as well as in the mentioned teaching areas, is an asset. • We place great importance on a high level of presence in the organization.
