Job Description: University Lecturer in Media and Communication Studies
The Department of Communication, Quality Technology, and Information Systems operates on both Campus Östersund and Campus Sundsvall. The department conducts education and research within the areas of Communication, Quality Technology, and Information Systems.
Job Responsibilities
The temporary position includes teaching, supervision, and examination in practical and theoretical courses in media and communication studies for the Master's Program in Strategic Communication, Communication and PR Program, and Journalism Program.
Teaching also includes course responsibility, course development, industry collaboration, and related administrative tasks. Teaching can take place both on campus and online.
The position involves administrative responsibility for the Master's Program in Strategic Communication and participation in an ongoing research project.
Responsibilities include searching and analyzing literature, collecting and analyzing data. The candidate is expected to actively participate in the teaching team.
The primary working language is Swedish, but teaching in English may be included.
Qualifications
The university lecturer must meet the requirements described at https://www.miun.se/medarbetare/styrdokument/ny-styrning-planering-och-uppfoljning/Personal/Anstalla-personal/?item=311447. For this position, a minimum of 180 higher education credits, including at least 90 credits or equivalent competence in media and communication studies is required.
Assessment Criteria
Assessment will be based on the degree of skill required for the position. Pedagogical skills will be evaluated with the same care as other qualifying factors.

- PhD in Media and Communication Studies
- Experience in Master's program management
- Relevant subject knowledge
- Research and project experience
- Course responsibility/development in media, communication, and journalism
- Theoretical knowledge in areas such as opinion formation, lobbying, communication law, strategic communication, organizational communication, and public relations
- Practical skills in visual communication, editing, and layout
- Ability to develop teaching with innovative methods
- Experience in lecturing, planning workshops and seminars
- Proficiency with digital teaching tools
- Ability to create content for various communication channels
- Effective work planning and organization skills
- Ability to collaborate with surrounding society
- Excellent verbal and written Swedish and English skills
Special consideration will be given to collaborative abilities and how the candidate's experience and competence can complement and strengthen the department's activities.
