Workplace Description
The French Department at the Centre for Languages and Literature in Lund offers instruction at all levels, from beginner courses to advanced master's level courses.
The department is part of Section 3 at the Centre for Languages and Literature, which also includes other Romance languages, Modern Greek, and classical languages. Cross-disciplinary collaboration is an important part of our work. The focus of French instruction is on language proficiency, both oral and written, as well as orientation on linguistic, cultural, literary, and societal conditions in France and other French-speaking countries. The French teaching team includes a professor, several lecturers and senior lecturers, and doctoral students, who all participate in the department's teaching in various ways.

Work Tasks and Responsibilities
You will work with teaching at several levels of French:
FRAC02 French, Beginner Course 2
FRAA21 French, Basic Course, Section 3 in Grammar
FRAA12 French, Intermediate Course, Section 2 in Written Language Skills
You will teach on campus, primarily during the day but also one evening per week, throughout the entire semester. The ability to teach in both French and Swedish is required.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
You are eligible to be employed as a university lecturer in French if you have:
- Completed a degree in French at an advanced level or equivalent knowledge, as well as other competence relevant to the position's subject orientation and work tasks
- Demonstrated pedagogical skills and ability to teach in Swedish
- Previous teaching experience in French at the university level with a focus on linguistics
The assessment criteria generally include the degree of scientific, pedagogical, administrative, and other skills relevant to the position's subject content and work tasks, as well as personal ability to perform the work tasks well.
Meritorious for the position are:
- Experience teaching the subject at the university level, especially in courses with a linguistic profile
- Experience with beginner instruction
- Good collaborative skills

This is a fixed-term 50% position starting 2026-01-07, or by agreement, until 2026-06-19. The position includes teaching at various French levels, from beginner to intermediate, in courses focusing on language proficiency, French grammar, and culture/society. About the Centre for Languages and Literature
The Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL) is Sweden's largest department focused on languages, linguistics, literary studies, and area studies. SOL offers approximately 500 independent courses complemented by a growing number of educational programs at basic and advanced levels. With 36 subjects and around 30 doctoral programs, SOL forms a solid unit with breadth and depth in education and research, characterized by both national and international visibility. SOL is led by a board chaired by the department head. Additionally, there are three deputy heads with specific operational responsibilities. SOL has approximately 300 employees and 8,000 students, of which around a hundred are doctoral students.
