The ophthalmology department provides both acute and planned eye care with outpatient and surgical services, as well as visual rehabilitation. Currently, we have around 50 employees working together in modern facilities on the hospital grounds in Gävle. In the outpatient clinic, doctors, ophthalmic nurses, registered nurses, nursing aides, optometrists, orthoptists, and medical secretaries work with the patients' best interests in focus.
We are now looking for a nursing aide who wants to work in a combined role where you will alternate between patient-facing duties as a nursing aide and being the first point of contact for our patients and visitors at the reception, along with administrative tasks.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
As a nursing aide/receptionist with us, you will have a varied and dynamic job that includes both practical and administrative duties.
As a nursing aide, your responsibilities in the patient-facing service will include:
- Preparing patients for examinations and treatments
- Assisting doctors and nurses during consultations and in our injection flow
- Managing medical equipment and ensuring that examination rooms and storage areas are organized
- Contributing to a smooth patient flow in collaboration with other professionals
As a receptionist, you are the patient's first point of contact at the clinic, responsible for providing a professional reception. You will among other things:
- Welcome and register patients at the reception
- Answer questions and direct to the appropriate contacts
- Manage bookings, cancellations, and medication inquiries via "My Care Gävleborg"
- Work on administrative tasks such as mail handling, cash management, and scanning
The role also includes participation in ongoing improvement work where administrative tasks are gradually transferred from healthcare staff, allowing for the role to evolve over time.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
To succeed in this role, you need to be calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You have an interest and willingness to help others and work towards finding solutions. You plan and organize your work effectively and thrive in an environment with numerous points of contact.
Requirements:
- Certified nursing aide with a protected professional title
- Proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written
It is advantageous if you have experience working in outpatient clinics or health centers, along with previous administrative experience or reception work. Experience in ophthalmology or other specialized healthcare will also be considered a merit.
