Our unit is large, and from September 2023, we will be conducting day surgery and postoperative care in both H-building and O-building. Postoperative care is provided around the clock, every day of the year. Day surgery operations are conducted from Monday to Friday.
We can offer you a varied job in pre- and postoperative care as well as day surgery. We care for patients of all ages and with a wide range of medical conditions. In O-building, we care for patients who have undergone surgery in surgery (upper/lower gastro), orthopedics, urology, gynecology, and neurosurgery. In H-building, we care for patients who have undergone surgery in ear-nose-throat, plastic surgery, jaw, eyes, breast-endocrine, and orthopedics. We offer internal training both in the department and together with other departments at the AnIVA clinic.
The area of anesthesiology and intensive care operates at the region's three hospitals: University Hospital Örebro, Karlskoga Hospital, and Lindesberg Hospital. It is a large area with approximately 400 employees. Our fields of work include anesthesiology, intensive care, surgical services (postoperative and day surgery), and an intermediate department. At Karlskoga Hospital, there is an anesthesiology department, an intensive care unit, and a postoperative unit.
University Hospital Örebro (USÖ) is one of the region's three acute hospitals where we provide advanced healthcare, research, and education. In both 2020 and 2019, USÖ received the prestigious award for Best University Hospital from the newspaper Dagens Medicin. USÖ won the most significant category for medical quality, had the best results in the categories of accessibility, economy, and in avoiding pressure ulcers and overcrowding. Nursing Assistants for ANIVA, Postoperative/Day Surgery USÖ
Job Responsibilities
• Receive and prepare patients preoperatively. For example, assist doctors with blocks (advanced anesthesia for an arm before hand or wrist surgery).
• Central venous catheter insertion, placement of epidural catheters (which provide pain relief after surgery).
• Receive and participate in the care of patients after surgery. For example, monitoring and documenting vital parameters.
• Participate in the department's development work.
• Mentor and train new colleagues.

Qualifications
We welcome you who are a trained nursing assistant, preferably with a focus on emergency care according to previous program structure, or are a trained nursing assistant within the current program structure. To assess employability, transcripts from your healthcare education and proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare regarding protected professional title must be attached to your application.
Further education or experience in anesthesiology, intensive care, surgery, emergency services, postoperative care, or day surgery is advantageous but not a requirement. We prefer candidates who have worked for a few years as nursing assistants. We place great importance on personal suitability and high social competence.
About the Position:
Permanent employment, full-time. We operate around the clock, year-round. The work schedule is primarily day-evening with some weekend shifts. There is also the possibility to work occasional nights.
